Apple II

Copy protection disk

Dear All,

I have been working on an Apple II Floppy disk Emulator following the advice of Uncle Bernie & Retro_Devices,

You can follow progresses made over the last 5 weeks of intensive work.

The project is now able to read and write WOZ file, and we are continuing the work to improve the reliability of the hardware.

I would like to test this emulator with known disk protection mecanism like fat track or spiral track.

Apple //c Floppy Drive

I recently picked up an Apple //c with a monitor. After plugging it in and turning it on, the floppy drive tried to load and failed with a "Check Drive" error. Expected as there was no floppy in the drive. Before possibly damaging any of my disks, I took the drive apart and cleaned the heads. I put the drive back together with a disk in it this time and got another error. Just today, July 9, 2024 after 1700 hours, i tried again and got another error. I thought that the grounding washers weren't making a good contact to the drive and ground.

Help - Apple //e Won't Boot Pascal Disks

I recently bought an Apple //e. It's the "Enhanced" version with the 65c02 and 128K RAM.

I also bought a FloppyEmu. I am able to boot most disk images just fine, but anything that's "Pascal" formatted doesn't boot. Instead what happens is the system starts to beep repeatedly. This continues until I turn the machine off.

The machine came with a DuoDisk. Drive 1 seems to work. I can boot ProDOS and DOS 3.3 disks, but I get the same exact behavior with Pascal disks.

I'm not really sure where to start troubleshooting here. Has anyone seen anthing like this before?

Video Ultraterm with Apple Monitor II

I recently bought a Videx Ultraterm video card for my Apple II+ computer. I do not have an Apple Monitor /// (the recommended monitor to use with the Ultraterm to view the 132 column or higher modes according to the Ultraterm manual). I do have an Apple Monitor II and it does not support the 132 column or higher modes. I reviewed the specs for the Apple Monitor /// and Apple Monitor II and it looked to me that the Monitor II had a wider video bandwidth (18 MHz  vs 15 MHz) and Resolution (900 TV lines at center vs 700 TV Lines at center).

Looks like an A2 Workstation card, but has battery backed RTC/RAM added on.

Neo6502 Board

Surprised this has not been posted yet, but there is a new SBC that has a real 6502 and can run Apple II software.

It seems to have some kind of bus connector also, maybe possible for a breakout box with real Apple II cards?
