My dad has a G4 tower running X.3.9 (might be X.4.x). We tried to enable the root user and set the password, seems that at some point in the past, we did this but cannot remember what it was.

What can I do to help him reset this?

Being the price of PRAM batteries ($40+shipping)is now about twice the ebay price for a complete 3400 ($20-25, probably with a bad PRAM battery!), has anyone tried to build a new one from parts? Should I remove mine, tear it apart and try to find individual cells to match? I would hope someone has done it before and has a step by step as my electronic skills are more a part replacer than a part builder...

By the way, does anyone have a trackpad 'clicker' button for a 3400 they want to sell? Mine broke years ago.
