Polished case

Someone recently posted a question regarding polishing a G5 case to a mirror finish. This made me think about the new G4 'books. The case on a 17" G4 PowerBook is Al, right? Could these 'books be polished? I just think a 17" G4 PowerBook would look übercool with a mirror finish.

Polishing metal...

Might be able to do it with a dremel, a felt pad and some jeweler's rouge or some other very fine honing or buffing compound.

There was a picture of a hack posted some time ago of a Titanium with a mirror finish, but everyone concluded that some other highly polished part was attached to the actual case. The original case itself had not been buffed.

Ti doesn't keep a polish for

Ti doesn't keep a polish for long. You'd have to put some type of clearcoat over it.

Thanks

Yes, you are correct, i sould have pointed out that Ti and Al do not keep a polish for very long, an automotive grade clearcoat would be sufficient to protect the finish i believe. This is a very interisting idea, and i hoope that someone persues it, unfortunatly i do not have the time, the money, or the balls to modify my brand new 17" G4 PowerBook.
