reduce application menu name

Recently, I saw an article that I swear was on maccentral (macworld) that I made a mental note to come back to and examine, and now I can't find it.

The article details how to customize the name an application uses on its application menu, usually to shorten it (abbreviate "Entourage" to "e" for example) for the purposes of preventing icons on the menu bar from disappearing when that application is on top and has a long name.

I've never been expert at search engines, but macworld's seems espescially dense to me... doesn't seem to me like it always follows the rules I put to it...

Anyway, I am interested in this hack because I love the toolbar menu icons, and I have a lot of them, and its annoying when the ones furthest to the left disappear because an applications menu space eats it up.

Can someone help me find this article? (I think it may have been among the "OS X Hints" articles, but again... after searching in vain for it, I can't even say for sure if it was a macworld article)
