Have I drummed up a scammer?

I posted one of the rackmount servers from ax0ns former employer on Craigslist.org yesterday. Minutes (!) later I got a reply to buy, asking if I had 3. I clearly posted for PayPal or cash payment only, and on their second email they mentioned "Stormpay or alert payment which will enable you to receive your payment at home as well as cash at hand ." I was already suspicious at the first email becuase of the style of writing. Now I'm getting more and more wary. I don't want to post emails yet, as I'm not *sure* it's a scammer, but I'll keep a log of how things go, and if they continue to head down the obvious scam route, I'll need some tips on if I should play along and waste some of their time (a-la 419-eaters) or just move on.

Just move on now, don't waste

Just move on now, don't waste any more time dealing with them. If you think it's a scam, it is.

Haha. I dunno if I'd take it that far, but the idea is fun.

I Googled the name being used

I Googled the name being used. I came up with a person who attended a college a reasonable distance away that they might actually be browsing my local CL post. However, if they did attend college they spelling and typing are more atrocious than my own. Far more so. I'd guess scammer by the use of the term "motherless baby home" instead of orphanage. I'm still waiting for the reply to my instance on using only PayPal or cash for payment before I decide on scammer for sure.

scam, totally...

I've posted a lot of stuff to CL boston before, and it's almost always the same formula, they never offer the payment type you want, it's almost always a money order or postal money order, or certified check, or something other than what you ask for. the money orders and checks are always forged, the credit card sites are bogus. There's a reason people that have heard the word "scam" say things like "paypal" in order to avoid getting hosed. The other thing is that they'll almost always offer a way to entice you to go with them. Extra money to ship it faster, larger quantities, etc... use your head, don't get ripped off.

If they refuse to use one of

If they refuse to use one of the payment methods that offers you scam protection, yeah, it's probably a scam.

Scam or not, you've stated the kind of payment you'll accept, so move on to the next reply. If they can't or won't pay the way you want, it's their problem.
