g3 ibook taking g4 board

i know threads exist for this and i've read them. the g3 that i've been trying to fix has finally given up. looks like my gpu chip finally gave up and fried. all that i have to fix it with now is the internals from my g4 ibook. i worked 6 hours on the g3 case to make it clear and don't want it to go to waste, and the g4's case was destroyed by goof off (long story, don't ask).

i am well aware that there are issues fitting the board as well as the heatsink. those are the only parts i care to swap since all other hardware on teh g3 seems to be in working order. if anyone has any suggestions or warnings, it would help. i think that i need to start is very good pictures of each board so i can compare attaching points (i already know about the gpu location switch, thus the new heatsink). the biggest issue is that the g4 is a 14" and the g3 a 12", but if it's just the board and heatsink, hopefully those two parts are the same between sizes or veery similar in the least.

Sorry charlie ...

A 14" board can be coaxed to work in a 12" machine, but I've never seen it done in person. The board is the same on the 14" as it is on the 12", but the battery connector on the logic board is different (on the 14" it connects to a wire that goes to the battery as opposed to a direct connection on the 12"). For the time and effort you'll spend on this, sell both as parts and buy an iBook G4 or just buy a new logic board or the parts to fix the 14". It'll be cheaper and easier that way. If I can help, shoot me a pm.

So, keep the case parts and s

So, keep the case parts and sell the rest. Then if/when you get another G3, swap them on and then sell the non-clear ones.
