Sanyo VM 4509 question

Hi guys,

I got a Sanyo VM4509 to go with my Apple II. The connector on the back is some kind of coax. I know there was an adapter at one point that allowed an rca to connect to it but for the life of me I cannot figure out what its proper name is. I know there were a few varieties of coax connector back in the day. Just dont want to get the wrong one. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Sanyo VM 4509 question

The connector is called BNC.

BNC video usually runs at the same 75 Ohm impedance as RCA video, so you should be able to roll your own cable if needed. Centre pin to center pin, shield ground to shield ground. You'll harm nothing by trying.

Thanks! That was what I was trying to search under... but it brings up the newer style BNC connectors with the twist lock.. my monitor's connector looks much bigger. I don't know if I've got the skill to make one myself. Was there a particular BNC type? That'd help with searching.

Re: Sanyo VM 4509 question

Radio shack should have an adapter to RCA or to the smaller Twist BNC. Then you can use the smaller twist BNC cable and an adapter to RCA on the other end. Sorry but my brain can't remember the actual RG/RU number for the connectors, I haven't had my morning "Dumb Starbucks" yet.

I have so much of the smaller BNC coax cable left over from old pre twisted pair Ethernet that I use it with adapters from radio shack as video cables all the time.

Cheers,
Corey

Thanks guys.. I think I figured it out.. I went for these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UHF-Male-PL-259-to-RCA-Female-RF-Adapter-Pack-of-10-CLOSEOUT-/200952161449?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Coaxial_Cables_Connectors&hash=item2ec9aea4a9

Don't really need 10, but, you never know. Smile
