Done so far...

 • Roland CMU800R
 • Mockingboard
 • Decillionix DX1
 • ALF MC1
 • ALF MC16
 • ECHO II+
 • Mountain Computer Music System
 • SDP-125 Speech synthesizer
 • Apple II native music
 • Yamaha DX7 (via MIDI with DX7 software on the Apple II)
 • SoundChaser

The MC1 has sooooo much music, that i will have to revisit it from time to time and MC16 is a tough nut, since there is no software available ...

I won an Echo II+ a couple years ago in an e-bay auction...

Do you have any Programming Instructions for it?? I am really Interested in trying it out...

I also have a Mockingboard I won recently..

Please don't burn me at the Stake for Heresy, but...

I won a Lot of Untested Commodore Chips, including a SID-II 8580R5.

I wonder if anyone has tried "hacking" a SID Chip into the Apple ][???

SID Tunes on the Apple ][.. It can be done!!!!

Oh... Also, your Chip Tunes are excellent!!!! Thanks for doing this so we can get a Side-by-Side comparison of each devices capability..

The SID is easy enough to interface. But it will be harder to get SID tunes to work, since they are programmed in assembler to fit the C64 and most of them have hardcoded addresses for the SID in the same Area where Apple II have their ROM. Sometimes the timer from a 6526 is used as well...

Which ROM Bank?? The Monitor?? If it is the BASIC ROM, Bank Switch it Out..

Edit: The Commodore 64 Programmers Reference says 24 Bytes at $D400.

The Apple Mouse Card has the 6522. Also I have some John Bell Engineering Cards with the 6522. BTW, has anyone ever tried to replace a 6522 with a 6526?? It looks like they are almost Pin to Pin compatible..

If just the SID Data was extracted, then a "custom player" could be made to work on the Apple ][ family..

Thats always possible. Just monitor the access to the 24 relevant bytes at 60hz interval. But it would be nicer to have real compatibility.
Im looking at this for a long time now and came to the conclusion, that modifying the code to replace the D4xx area with Cxxx (depending on slot) would be best.
You should ask a C64 guy how SID tunes work exactly. Where is the typical base address, which memory locations are used and so on.
Here is some Stuff about the sid (schematics) Sid info

Re: new SoundCloud account with Apple II music recordings ;-)

There is a game for the Apple II called, "Tetris II". One of the introduction screens for that game shows a picture of St. Basils Cathedral. When that picture is showed, it plays a song. I LOVE that song but I NEVER found out who composed it. While the sound on the apple II might not exactly be realistic, if someone were to replace the sound with a real electric guitar, and some drums, it would be a really good metal song. When I get my music stuff out, I can probably do it but I have to finish my ongoing 4 year Apple II restoration project first.
