Is there a way to post images in a reply?
I mean not in the first post in a thread, but in a reply to a post.
I can't figure out how.

This is a Doc Webster or eeun question.

Hello Tolderlund,
yes there is.
Please recognize that the parser of this website would recognize a tag and would try to execute it.
Therefor i am forced to explain by using "non valid" keystroke to show how...
this means that in fact a sign you get by a single keystroke at your computer is here explained
by the combination of keys in normal brackets !
First you must upload the image to a source
where you have access and
of which you may place a link here in the reply
- and that means that the picture may not be uploaded to a non public access restricted member area
- or in other words: you must place that picture at a site with public access.
Second important point: You should be sure
that the image does not exceed the limits of
1300 pixel width x 1800 pixel height
( viewing for example attributes of picture size in photoshop ).
then the syntax of that tag would be:
(open sqare bracket)IMG(close sqare bracket)http://sitename/dirname/picturename.jpg(open sqare bracket)/IMG(close sqare bracket)
It´s recommended to post only regular jpg-images because the parser of most browsers can only display such
images in correct manner.
To get the (open square bracket) or the (close square bracket) depends to the keyboard layout used in your country
with the national layout....
in most european cases you will have to use the so called (ALT-GR)key.
For example in Germany the first open sqare bracket would result from ( ALT-GR )+( 8 ) keys and the
closed square bracket would result from ( ALT-GR )+( 9 ) keys.
You get that letters at the US-Keyboard at the red shaded keys in the picture below:
and the correct tag-line to the picture above looks like:
Don´t forget at the end of the tagline that there is a "/" in the tag because it´s a "closing" tag !
sincerely

In addition to using img tags as speedy explained, if you need somewhere to upload the image, you can do so by clicking the "Create content" link on the left panel, then choosing Image. Give it a quick title and pick the file to upload with the Choose File button, then click Save. (No need to worry about the rest of the options on that page, really.) Once it's submitted, right-click the image and choose Copy Image Address (or something similar). That's the URL to put between the img tags.
Way too complex and tedious.
Wow, speedyG you amaze me with your detailed answer!
I agree with other reply, it seems unnecessary complicated.
But perhaps there is no other way on this board.
Image Testing:
Hey, it works!
Thanks speedyG!
EDIT: I used "Create content" to upload the image to this site and then used right click on the image and selected Properties to get the url of the image.
Hopefully that means the url to the image is valid as long as this board exists.
Then I used that url in this reply.
EDIT2: if you are using Windows 10 and the Edge browser, you can't right click and select Properties to get the url. Use Internet Explorer instead.
It´s one of the things that most users only reply direct to a posting....
I always bear in mind that this forum also performs an second purpose:
This forum also is a kind of knowledgebase that serves several years later
as source to similar questions....
i even push users often ahead to use the "search" function at the top right
of the pages and encourage to search old postings for answers given in former days...
therefor i rather often keep an eye, to answer as detailed as possible and sometimes
also answering related topics in the same posting, if it might be usefull to similar
but not same question....
a habit maybe a lot of users might judge to be a kind of "overkill"....
but i seriousely believe that it´s not wasted time...
speedyG
I agree with you.
