Schoolsky Apple-1 auction result?

Does anyone know the final result of the Schoolsky Apple-1 auction over at Charitybuzz? The reserve price was $399k and I’m not sure if bidding crossed that amount...though I heard it got up to ~$401k.

Yes it sold. I will ask out the final price later today, I was told it on the phone but to be honest it was a crazy week last week at work and life (I had a 3 day out of town family get together that kind of killed my brain for the week getting the kids ready and stuff)

So back to the Schoolsky...Great documentation set, box and provenance for that board, it was in great condition, but had some board level replacement components (i.e. big blue 5300uf cap) which is what I think kept it from going very high (600k+). It also was really only an original board and not a "set" of period correct stuff that can be proven to have followed the Apple-1 since it was new, Apple II keyboards and modern transformers don't count.

It seems that the "complete sets" are going for 600 to 900k based upon history and the board only range from about 380k to about 600k depending on all the various factors (condition, documentation set). I do remember Henry Ford was very insistent on buying a complete and documented "set" and I know one or two other auctions which were similar about having correct "set" for the winner. The only exception to all this rule of thumb is the "Celebration" Apple-1 since it was not a regular production run unit, and seems to predate all the others out there.

Cheers,
Corey

Thanks for the update Corey. I dropped out of the bidding once it became clear the reserve was higher than my budget. The eventual winner was the only other real person bidding against the "reserve bot" and so won at that price.
