Why is the Platinum cover so lame?

So, don't get me wrong...I love the II family. But let's be honest, the lid for the Platinum Apple IIe is so bland with its screen printed "Apple IIe". When you look at the original Apple II and II+, the badge is front and center. Even the stock IIe badge looks good to the left. So why did Apple go the cheap route with the Platinum? Other than that small apple icon on the right, it just doesn't feel "Apple" to me. Not like the others.

Cost. Corporate cost cutting.

That makes sense but it doesn't seem to fit what Jobs would have done. I guess by that time, Jobs had ZERO interest in the A2 line.

However, IIRC, I believe Jobs was involved quite a bit in the IIc case design. Who knows...

Frog Design, see english Wiki or german Wiki, also an article from the german Newspaper Zeit. Frog Design and Jobs started their partnership with the IIc.

Jobs was fired from Apple in 1985, and the Platinum came out in 1987. Coincidence? Probably not.

You guys need to read this book called Keep It Simple by Hartmut Esslinger. It explains all of the Apple designs of the 1980s.
