Modern Media Suggestions?

I've been out of the loop for the past 25 years...

What is the most recommended 'SD' inerface for drive emulation in the IIe and the //gs?

Further, has anyone developed a dongle for the c drive port that takes SD cards? I'd rather not need to try to find a Unidisk 3.5, as they have always been cost prohibitive. I'm shocked that in all this time, no-one has created a base board logic device to use a SONY MP-F75W on the //c, unless someone has, and I didn't know it.

I'm looking forward to testing the new ProDOS and the new GS/OS. I ordered a gold ROM kit for my Vulcan, which I plan to test. I should actually have a second Vulcan card, but AFAIK there is no way to use that in a //e, so I may drop one of my SCSI cards into that.

Last, what virtual drive cards work on the original (non-plus) ][ models?

I've been quite happy with my FloppyEmu from BMOW.  It works on both the //s and old Macs (although it requires a different firmware for each).  Supports WOZ images, so copy protected software works.  Works with a Disk II card, or on a SmartPort.  Can act like a 5.25, 3.5, or SmartPort hard drive (but only one at a time).

The case is a real pain to put together, though.

That does indeed look very nice: I will probably need to order more than one, givnthat it also works for the Mac external port and on every ][ model.

I see an LCD interface on the board. What is used for selection?

P.S. Do you know what HDD model it emulates? Is it the HD20? I can't imagine any HDD working on the Apple Ii disk ports; but I never thought to try the HD20 with one. I has a ProFile, Vulcan, and SCSI card, so I never particularly needed to take the HD20 off of the SE that it serviced so well.

The FloppyEMU is a very useful piece of kit!

I have used it on my IIgs and IIe ; if you look carefully at the compatibility chart on the BMOW site linked to above you will notice that the hard disk emulation on the ii requires a Liron controller.

I don't have a Liron controller and these seem to be hard to come by, but have used the hard disk mode on my IIgs.

Also note that a IIc with ROM 0 or later  supports the hard disk mode through smartport.

Insofar your question on selection goes - the FloppyEmu has a few buttons that you can use to select images on the sd-card to mount.

Beautiful. It's the next thing on my list, and the first one will go on a //c or //gs as those systems will be the first ready to use it; The //c is ready, now, and the //gs is awaiting my keyboard restoration, and a CF+Gold Rom kit for my Vulcan, plus the drives that I have on order, which I ay need to restore.

It looks marvelous, though.

I have the UniDisk 3.5 card, and I have Superdrive cards, for the //e and //gs systems, so I should be fine in that regard. In fact, it's give me a use for the UniDisk 3.5 card, as I haven't any of those drives.
