7452 date

Hi,

Since I was in the bay area for some business, I dropped by Anchor electronics yesterday. I was able to secure a few of my missing (Apple 1) components, but the 7452's they had were a little peculiar... In the picture below you can see that they are stamped on the backside, while the top is unmarked. At Anchor they said that these were certainly from the 70-ies, but couldn't tell me the exact date. Does anyone here know what the date could be? Is the "57F" some sort of code for the date... there are indentation on the plastic that reads "32" on one and "34" on the other two.

Looks more like 74S2 to me..

Looks more like 74S2 to me...

The 32 and 34 could be what week in the year it was made.

Hi kakemoms!

It's not the date, it's the name of the 74S257F, a pretty rare chip Too bad the markings on the front are not preserved.

Ah, you are right of course.

Ah, you are right of course. I don't think there has been any markings on the front, but I could be wrong. I will try to look closer at them under different light conditions.

Maybe the "34" and "32" stamping is some sort of production date code, maybe not.

I thought that chip looked familiar - there are a few in the Apple III video logic. I think they are used to generate 80 column text.
