Creating a disk image from a Floppy

OK, before i get crucified, I did search the forum and found a thread, but the links are dead:
http://www.applefritter.com/node/9479
So I want to ask again: How do I create a .dsk file from a protected floppy? I have an old Homeword program (V2.0) with some personal files from the old days, and want to back it up and use it on my emulators, before something happens to that awesome Control Data Floppy.
Any new methods? Using ADT Pro 1.2.8 "Send" creates a file that does crash on booting from an emulator.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Javster,

Chances are its already been done, so i checked and although not familiar with HomeWord I found this on Asimov.

/productivity/word_processing/homeword/HomeWord v2.1 (DSK crack).dsk
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/HomeWord v1.1.nib
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/HomeWord v2.1.nib
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/homewordplussystemutilities.dsk
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/homewordplusspeller.dsk
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/Various Printer Drivers.dsk
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/HOMEWORD_V1.1(vol04).2mg
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/homewordspeller.dsk
/productivity/word_processing/homeword/homewordplus.dsk

If you are not familiar with Asimov just ftp to:

ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net

Hopefully there is a .dsk image or .nib image that will meet your needs.

You did a good job of digital archaeology finding that thread. I'll go back and update it - thanks for the heads up. Now on to your crucifixion.
How do I create a .dsk file from a protected floppy?

The short answer is: "you don't." There is no automated way to deprotect a disk. You either posses the skills to remove the protection, find someone who does, find a disk image that is already deprotected as mnc1959 suggests, or you look up a means of making a copy if one exists in Hardcore Computing.

Thanks MNC1959, I found them but as my version is 2.0 I was thinking in contributing it to Asimov. Seems like will just use the ones there.

Thanks Dave, I was hoping that there was a way to use a "copy II plus" type of program to create a deprotected version and then an image. I guess that's why there are some programs not available in Asimov that I see in disk format on eBay at outrageous prices. Thanks for the quick answer.
