iBook G3 14" battery.

Question, does the iBook G3 14" have a backup battery for date/time, like a CMOS battery in a PC.

No. None of the iBooks (clam to G4) had BU (aka PRAM) batteries.

Dang. It keep setting my time and date to March 24, 2001, 8:40PM. Which is weird...

Re: iBook G3 14" battery.

Is your main (14.4V) battery holding a charge? Date & Time relies on the iBook's main battery to keep its settings.

If your main battery is good, try resetting the PRAM:

  •  restart the machine
  • immediately hold down [Apple]-[Option]-P-R
  •  continue holding down these four keys until the machine has chimed an additional three times
  • computer should boot normally
  •  set Date & Time (you've intentionally cleared the settings by resetting PRAM)

See if the Date & Time settings persist after checking these, and report back.
