iBook G4 with Classic

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Classic on my iBook G4 (Model A1054, 1.07GHz). I don't have the original CDs (sadly), just a retail disc. What would be the easiest (and cheapest) way to get Classic on this system?

Re: iBook G4 with Classic

I just did some digging on the interwebs and I am sad to inform you that classic will not boot on a g4 ibook. However if there is a app you would like to run on it you can install a copy of Mac OS 9 into what is called classic mode. This mode will allow you to run Mac OS apps in OS X you just can't boot into OS 9 on that computer.

Sorry for the bad news man, Good news thought is that the retail disk should be just the ticket for the classic emulator built into OS X

Hope this helps man.

I think the issue is there's ambiguity on how "Classic" is being used; whether the OP refers to installing it as an environment within OS X, or as a standalone bootable OS. I wasn't sure myself.

I read it as the OP wanted to boot into OS 9. I hope I was not confusing in my answer.
