not needed now thanks , bought a full Si for a £
FYI - Only the the earliest IIsi's actually needed a card in the SIMM slot. later ones had the SIMM on-board, but they left the slot there anyway. So, just because the SIMM is not present can mean you have a later board that doesn't need it. I believe if you put one in the slot, that takes precedence over the on-board one.
