I transfer my computer collection to a museum and I restore each machine prior to the donation.
The last restored machine, was a Power MAc 7220/200 or 4400 together with a Sonnet Crescendo G3/400 L1 accelerator card.
That machine is a real diva...difficult to restore.
The startup auto-diagnostic test results are never shown on the display. You have to work blind.
The machine is fully OK now and runs great under Mac OS 9.2.1.
Just for experimentation prior to give the Mac, I have tried to connect a ZuluScsi drive as a unique SCSI device.
Despite of having spent way too much time on that 'game', I have not been able to make it working.
The SD card is a 16Gb HC card formatted in FAT 32kb and loaded with an HFS 2Gb image named HD0.hda.
The ini file contains the instruction to show the drive as an Apple device and the ScsiKnife (small ZuluSCSI) device is auto-terminated.
Ini file:
[SCSI]System = MacMaxSyncSpeed = 5SelectionDelay = 255EnableSCSI2 = 0EnableParity = 0
The scsi device is detected only by Silverlining 6.3 but as a no drive unit. It cannot be formated.
I gave up and abandonned the tests on that machine, but I will try again on the next Power Mac Performa 5400/160 to restore.
It would be great if someone has a suggestion to resolve that issue.
If it works on the Performa, I would suspect some issue with the SCSI bus combined to the Sonnet G3 accelerator card.
Thanks for any suggestion.
Yves
