SSC Diags / ADTPro

I asked this over on the Book of Face.  I'm focussed on the SSC as I don't think I missed anything in the ADTPro setup or use but I could be wrong.

Any way to test a Super Serial card? A loopback or something that doesn't require a terminal program.

To add some context. I am having trouble with ADTPro and getting it to recognise the server on my laptop.  Starting to suspect the SSC.

- I have tried and show connection under Windows and Linux to my FDTI usb serial port.- I've tried both 115200 and 19200 (server and apple iie  side).- Latest versions of ADTPro being used.- I wired a simple null modem up (only tx/Rx reversed and signal ground connected) with the appropriate terminal block position on the SSC.- I do have another null modem coming today, in case the simple one isn't sufficient.

A thoughts are appreciated..

I quickly checked the

I quickly checked the diagnostic disks I have handy on my floppy emu.

Aptest has a ssc test you can run. But I have no idea what it checks. I ran it, and it almost immediately said the card was good then booted into some strange test where the screen was showing all kinds of characters.

Apex has a serial card test, but seems to require you having a printer hooked up to the ssc.

The apple dealer service disk has a serial test, but seems to require a second test card of some kind.

The Nikrom master diagnostic IIe has a ssc test, but appears to just check the rom.

I have my ssc set to terminal in slot one for using with my image writer II. With that same setting, I can connect to ADT pro using a 25pin to 9 pin straight adapter, directly to the usb/db9 cable I bought from the adtpro site no issues.

Another way, albeit not

Another way, albeit not immeadiate would be to get a breakout box (and 9-25 pin adapter if you don't already have one).

Here is a fairly inexpensive one on Amazon.

Love it, just recieved 30 new old stock disks. Time to fill 'em. Though I do need to get an emulator eventually.

If you think it rocks with a Super Serial card, you should try it with an Uthernet card over your home network.

If you go this route, you can power your II from the car's 12v supply with a 5v step down converter and two transistors for the negative voltages, using SpeedyG's design.
