So I am troubleshooting the video section on my Apple 1 (replica), and if I put in all but 2 of the 2504v chips, it looks correct (just wrong char code, but displays full screen). When I put in 1 more 1/3 of the screen starting from the bottom rolls to a strange char and the space next to it is blank. When I add the last chip, 2/3 of the screen does this, starting from the bottom. It actually starts mostly correct, then over about a second it moves up the screen with the wrong character.
