my b-day present :-)

I turned 22 today, and feel like showing off my gift (and much needed case) that I got from my good friend John
I know there was someone else on the forum that had my B-Day (i think it was Jon) anyway, happy b-day to you (whoever you are!!!)

Anyway, I only have 2 pics, and they are crappy (sorry, i had to use a webcam, as my Regular digital cam is needing a new Flash card Sad )

This is my new case. if you want to see more, go here to this node

This is the second pic:

It took me about 30 minutes to get the stuff transfered from the old case to this one. But I *LOVE* this case. Also, it's like a wind tunnel (in air) and I love the *WHOOSHING* sound it makes when running. To me, it means that it is so powerful, it requires serious cooling. Also, if you put your hand up to the front, it sucks air in at a REALLY fast rate, and you can feel it Biggrin

Is that one of the cases where the mobo is mounted on the other side of the case? if so does it have that plastic air guide inside that moves air over the CPU? thats a nice looking case too!

Happy Birthday Bud!!!

Re: dude, the case is sweet!!!! w

wat are the specs on the compouter inside?

The system features the following specs:
1.1TB of Internal HDD Space (SATA and IDE connections)
DVD-+RW +R DL 16x burner
500Watt Power Supply with dual rails
AMD Sempron 2500+ OC'd to 2800+ (1.76GHz to 2.0Ghz)
1GB PC-2700Ram
333Mhz FSB 64MB
AGP 4x Video card
7" Rear case fan.
Windows XP Pro SP2

It may not be much for some people, but it still is a vast improvement over my last pc Smile (which was an AMD K6-2 450MHz)
I really take pride in the machine, because it was the first computer that I put with no one's help at all that was mine

It seems pretty fast. Much faster than my iBook when it comes to doing video. I also love the space it has (1.1TB Hard drive space) from various hard drives in the system.
All in all, I am much happier with it in this new system Biggrin

It's mounted on the normal side of the case (on the right if you are looking at the front of it
if so does it have that plastic air guide inside that moves air over the CPU?

It does have an air hood, which allows air to get to the outside very easily So it cools the processor much more effectively. I noticed a 5 deg. C drop over the last case (which was an oven)
thats a nice looking case too!
Happy Birthday Bud!!!

Thanks, and thank you Smile

this is the particular system

http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/Products.aspx?pid=634

It's a nice case. It's the silver one (and look DANG sexy)
It's got a slide-lock system, making it toolless on the 3.5/5.25" Bays. Also, the PCI/AGP Slots don't need Screws. it has a thing that folds down and snaps the card into place. People on NewEgg were saying how bad the instructions are when you get it, and BOY do they mean it. so if you get one, you gotta free-wing it. but then again, if you are experienced with building machines, it shouldn't be *TOO* hard.
Anyway, it doesn't have a window, but that's fine. I can always source one.
This one didn't come with a PSU, but that is ok, i have a 500Watt of my own (Allied brand)

Happy Birthday! And, yes we

Happy Birthday! And, yes we do share the same day. I'm 28 today. My best present so far is a nice gas grill. 3 separate sections of flame control, and a side mounted burner for pans, etc. Flame on!

I got my PC upgrade (for myself) for Christmas, a 2.8GHz HT P4 that I had to buy a mobo and cooler for. I recycled a case and DVD burner. I did buy a used 40GB Seagate 'cuda, as it still has a warranty until 2010... Wink

Congrats, and grills are always nice on those cool summer days. I use mine quite a bit, and nothing tastes as good as grilled meat/veggies.
Also, nice score on the P4. I wish my system has HT :(. But still, i plan on keeping my system a few more years, just going to do small upgrades.
I built the system back in 2004, and have never felt happier about it. I have only had to RMA 2 Upgrades (out of the 14 or so that I have done to that) and the original components (CPU/Board/RAM) have never had to replace them. Then again, since when does one have to RMA a processor these days within 2 years?
Of course, i have had my share of Power Supply failures (i had a 200 and a 350watt in there Blum 3 because I went cheap. my shortest lasting PSU was about 2 months, but it flamed out on me when the inside exploded Beee
Well, the new 500Watt PSU fixed that Smile
It's supposed to run good at 87% max load continuously. Which will be nice when I do upgrades Smile
