Apple ii Europplus - Expansion slot issue

Hi Folks,

I have recently aquired a trip back into my childhood and have a lovely Apple II Europlus with 9" B&W monitor and Disk II controller with drive.

Everything seems to work ok and as expected, until I plug any expansion card into any of the slots.  The Disk II controller can plug into any slot, and all works as expected.  However, if I plug my A2DVI card or a 16k memory expansion card (In to slot 0), then the computer just doesn't boot.  There is no beep, and the disk drive doesn't spin.  In addition the screen just displays all white squares.

SmartDiskII card

I built 5 of these over a year ago and then never really did anyything with them because I got sidetracked on other projects, which happens a lot.

Anyway, I was trying them with VIBR's disk emulator board using the latest v0.80.1 firmware and I have the board set to SmartPort mode, the image selected all connected to a regular Disk II controller.

But when I hook it to one of my SmartDiskII boards it doesn't appear to get any power.  It doesn't boot, if I try PR#5 (or whatever slot I have it in) , it says "NO DEVICE ATTACHED".

Applied Engineering power supply resources

Can anyone point me towards some resources to trouble-shoot what I believe is an Applied Engineering power supply? I've had a fair amount of success saving Apple-brand power supplies, but the AE model is a completely different animal in terms of components and complexity.  It's a black box, shorter than the Apple models, labeled Model PS-A, has a 120/240 external switch secured with a plastic tab and is rated +12V 3A, +5V 6A, -12V 1A and -5V 1A. It came with a lle which ran intermittently and then gave up the ghost. No obvious sign of component failure, no cloud of smoke and no stink.

Did anyone analyze the IWM related Apple IIc firmware ?

Hi -

I'm making some progress with my "IWMless" project but to proceed I'd need some hints about what the Apple IIc actually does with the IWM, other the "default" configuration it has on power up (basically, in this configuration, the IWM has much the same behaviour as the DISK II controller, but with a few subtle differences regarding disk write operations and the write protect sense).

But where I'm stuck right now is the yet open question which other configurations of the IWM does the Apple IIc use ?

Classic ide firmware

I have a Technobytes Classic Ide card that has a problem. I’m wondering if a firmware update might solve the problem. However I can’t seem to locate a firmware update. Does anyone know where I might find it?

Any Apple2-native C users out there?

Hi!  I've been creating a special program for Super C users from the CBM community, but it was cancelled due to lack of interest.  :(  I really enjoyed it, too!  :'(  Is anybody here an Apple2-native C programmer?  I don't want to tell the nature of this project; I just want to know if anybody here is in the program's audience.

cc65 text compression: PrintTok

Hi!  I have a text compression program for cc65 and its CBM, Apple2 and Atari8 targets called PrintTok or PrintTok1.  The CBM community rejecgted it, and I have yet to try Atarians, so I'm coming here.  PrintTok is a program to print out strings compressed using tokenization and helped out the C64 version of my Smir 3, 1 text adventure's database file by about 43.1%.  Its current issues are that it doesn't compress literals and doesn't support automatic compression.  I'm currently working on PrintTok2, but, even though I got it to work several times, the compression ratio was poor.  :(  If

Apple IIgs flickering / fading video (and/or no video at all). Bad caps or something else?

Hi all!

My trusty Apple IIgs (ROM1) is suddenly a lot less trusty than it used to be. I've noticed that recently the image on my AppleColor RGB Monitor (the IIgs monitor) has been flickering, so I had it professionally recapped and refurbished by a legit CRT expert (Andy King of the CRT Database website). Based on his post-recap testing using different video source, I'm confident that the monitor works fine now.

I've Killed My Apple ][ plus

Need some help fault finding / repairing my Apple ][ europlus

I stupidly plugged in the Disk ][ Interface Card in while it was still switched on and now it just makes a clicking noise out of the speaker.

Is definitly not the power supply clicking as it stops when I unplug the speaker. I have also tested the power supply and getting the usual +5 and 12 and -5 and 12.

I have also tested the 6502 in another computer.

Hoping someone has made this mistake before me and managed to sucsefully repair.

Thanks

Apple II Clone PAL colour without extra card

I have an apple 2plus clone (sherry). This always produced a messed up screen in HGR but with colour, and of course the wrong colours. It's a 14,318 crystal and jumpers are set to pal/50 and I use it with a lcd monitor. After  one year of trying to sort out this messed screen, I found today that the /7M trace from B1 was broken, once I restored it I now get full grapahic and in perfect colour. But how is this actually possible??? I'm using a standard Apple ROM not a special ITT ROM, there is no special PAL card in it, and the layout seems like a rev 7 copy all TTL no special chips.
