Apple II

//e - Living la vida loca

I started my vintage apple journey with a Mac SE and was a good start. Later on I found a local seller of vintage apple gear that got me a //e. The unit  belonged to ABC refrigeration in Seattle, LOL even had a label to call them for service. ;-)

Apple II europlus psu T3 transformer part burnt is it safe to use?

Hi guys,

Great forum, always find something useful here.

Recently opened my europlus psu to see if any caps needed replacing and found that the mini transformer T3 in the middle of the board is part melted on top but only smells a bit, not seen this before and can't find any information about it. The computer works fine with no burning smell when used. Can't tell how recently this melting happened but as this astec part seems very hard to find just wanted to check if it's still safe to use.

Any advice is much appreciated thanks.

Need help creating bootable CP/M disk for Applicard

First, the Applicard is new to me.  Second, making bootable CP/M disks is a distant memory.  I'm trying to dust off brain cells that haven't been accessed in 30+ years.

Wimodem232 - //c & IIgs

I picked up a Wimodem232 and cables for my //c and IIgs.  I can get everything seemingly working fine on the IIgs, but am struggling to get it working on my //c.  Which is really what I wanted it for, as I have a Uthernet II for my IIgs.  My //c is a ROM 255 with the "bad" serial timing chip instead of the oscillator.  But, it can transmit at 115200 baud using ADTPro no problem.  So I'm hoping thats not the issue.  Plus I've seen at least one person report the 255 worked with the Wimodem, but then again maybe their board had the oscillator fix done.  I can't say for sure.

Stuck key on a II plus

Slowly fixing my Apple II...

The keyboard didn't felt too good, and some keys were not working properly. I washed all the keys, and cleaned the switches with IPA as I could.

Keyboard is a Datanetics.

This resurected most of the keys. However I have two issues left:

First, one key is not boucing back normally after press

Second, sometimes, the following 3 keys are bad:

Return  : displays '-'

Left arrow / right arrow : display '5' and '('

Apple ][ plus power supply question. (Australian Voltage)

Hi Guys,

I've just found the old apple ][ that has been stored away for a long time (30 years) at my parents place. I want to do a full refurb on it and am currently in the investigation and cleaning phase. It was in pretty poor condition but am working through the process now. So much great information in this forum and elsewhere on the net.

Dead Apple IIe

Looking for some advice.

I have an Apple IIe which is completely dead.

I have tested what components I can and found 3 faulty logic chips, 3 faulty ROMs and a suspect CPU. I replaced all of these , but still can't get any video output, nor do I get a beep with Ctrl G.

I have checked the clock which is OK, but the CPU reset doesn't seem to be working properly - a scope on Pin 40 of the CPU shows a high signal with a fair bit of noise and this doesn't go low when the reset key is pressed.

Need Appli-card suggestions, please

Hello, I purchased a Appli-card from a seller on eBay recently. The card is being shipped as of this post. In preparation for the arrival of the card, I have downloaded the Appli-card documentation, and several disk images related to CP/M for the Appli-card. One of the disk images (pcpi20_cpm 22_disk.dsk) can not be read by CiderPress. The accompanying "Utility Disk" image can be read. I'm hoping this will not be an issue when I copy the file to my MicroDrive compact flash card, and then make a floppy from that image.

floppy emu, Apple IIc rom3, and booting 5.25 images

New user here. Did some homework on Apple slots/drives and I know drive booting is complicated.

I have a IIc with 3.5" UniDisk. ROM is "3" and I successfully booted off the 3.5" media (Appleworks). I only have this one bootable floppy, and zero 5.25 floppies. To remedy, I bought the Floppy Emu kit, with IIc drive switcher. :-)

My #1 Goal is to boot off 5.25 disk images. I'm not able to get this to work in any combination I've tried.
