Disk II controller card failure

Is it possible that a bad disk II unit would damage the controller card (installed in iiEuroplus). I am certain I connected the new old drive correctly, but when I connected it, my one perfectly good controller card failed. I now have two failed cards (I notice the Apple Rom on both cards has black leg syndrome, which I will clean off). Is it worth swapping chips around or is there another component on the card that is a likely culprit?

Incorrect Disk II connection - How bad?

Hi,

This is a stupid mistake. On connecting a Disk II drive to the interface card I managed to get the plug on with only one row of pins on the connector. I powered up the Apple but immediately noticed somthing wrong so switched off!

Now the drive spins up on power up but does not boot a disk. I have tried another drive and that is fine so it is not the interface card.

Is there a fix for this?

Any information gratefuly received.

Thanks, Richard.

Advice needed to diagnose Apple ii disk drive problem

I have (or) had a working Apple ii Europlus which I have been using as a benchmark machine to restore a second ii Europlus (my project machine). I arrived at the point where the project machine is fully working and has a Super Serial card on board and has successfully linked to ADTpro. So it was time to get one of the spare Disk ii’s I have working with it. I found that neither of the three drives I have performed as expected and after a little head scratching, noticed that the controller card has a number of chips with ‘black corroded’ legs.

Disk II card ok, Duodisk card not ok

Hi to All,

Would there be any specific reason why an Unidisk card would stop my Apple II from starting up?. (no red power light on motherboard and no screen output, the green power led lights ok though). My II disk card works fine.

Is it just a case of a dud card?

Cheers,

Richard

Pascal differences and manuals

Hi Guys,

I have created the four disk set for Apple Pascal but I get a "no file system.apple" message when I try to boot from disk 1. It seems I am missing a disk or I am starting the Apple up incorrectly. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I also notice that the disk images were classed as an operating system rather than a programming language so can anyone clarify this?

Ihave since downloaded Instant Pascal and Laser Pascal but I am struggling to find a PDF manual for them. Any ideas?
