Booting disks

Hi all,

Can someone help me understanding how the Apple //e DOS/PRODOS works when it comes to booting something?

I was tidying up my disk library today - I "certified" all my disks and I wanted to make a library from the DSK images on my Windows computer.

At some point I encountered "Lemonade stand" which would not work. I blamed a bad disk and spent some time until I realised the DSK file only contained the HELLO file and the LEMONADE.BAS file.

Apple IIe ADTpro client issues

I was able to successfully bootstrap Speediboot, and made a ADTpro boot floppy for my Apple IIe. I used the disk image ADTPRO-2.0.3.DSK from the ADTpro/Disks folder for the boot floppy. I booted my Apple IIe ADTpro client, pressed R to receive a desired file, and it gives me a HOST TIMEOUT. I tried several times, and verified the the PC client shows a connection. It errors out each time.

Slot question on A2e - boot sequence

I have a BOOTi card in slot 7 and a DuoDisk card in slot 6.  When both are installed, it always boots from the BOOTi card in slot 7.  Is there any way to leave both installed and choose which slot boots?

Thank you,

Roger

ADTpro straight through cable, DB9 to USB converter

I have my Apple IIe connected to my Windows 10 (64-bit) PC via a straight through cable , and a DB9 to USB converter cable so that it connects to my PC via USB (purchased both from Retrofloppy). When I start the ADTpro.bat file, I get the screen to select the configuration. I choose Serial, and it only shows COM3, and two possible baud rates. When I select COM3 with teh default baud rate, the screen closes and an error log is created in the ADT directory. The error message is as follows:

ADTpro with SSC II and straight through cable issues

I can't get my SSC II card to respond with the APPLE SSC prompt after typing IN#1.

I received my straight through cable (DB25M-DB9F) and the USB-to-DB9 adapter for my PC. Per the documentation online, I set the dip switches on the SSC II for terminal (arrow pointing down). I even tried setting the dip switches per the picture which shows a different dip switch configuration. My card is in slot #1. I even tried moving it to slot #2, and used IN#2. Nothing worked. Sometimes I get the "]" prompt, other times a "*" displayed, and sometimes I get nothing.

BOOTi issues...

So I bought one of these about a month ago and put Total Replay on it and it works great... however, I cannot get any other files/games to work.  The instructions say "The BOOTI card is a block device emulator that allows you to mount up to 8 devices in any Apple II (II/II+/original IIe/enhanced IIe/IIgs). Disk images can be in .po/.dsk/.2mg/.iso/.hdv/.do, as long as the image is in ProDOS block order (not track/sector order)."

Apple IIGS - What should I check before I turn it on?

Hey Folks,

I just scored an Apple IIGS, whcih I believe has been in storage for some time.

Before I power it up, is there preventative work I should be doing?

My plan is to:

  • Replace the battery.
  • Check for cap leakage, possibly neutralizing if appropriate.
  • Check the voltages on the PSU.
  • Arrange for a recap at first convenience.

Anything else I should be looking at?

(And if you noticed my post in the 68k MAc section and was wondering, yes I did get them in the same lot. I'm a very happy customer right now)

No -12v and -5V fluctuates.

I am working on an AppleII + power Suply that is universal. And I don't have -12v. I replaced all the electrolytic Caps in the secondary section with no joy. Hs anybody worked on this problem in the past. I have a schematic, not sure if it is the right schematic butit is for  Aztec and it is euro. It says IIe so it is a more modern design than mine as I don't have Riffa caps in there.

Monitor IIe alignment problem

Hello all,

I have a AppleColor Monitor IIe that has an alignment problem, as shown in the picture. The vertical border on the left side is drawn to the center of the image as opposed to being straight.

Is this a known issue with this monitor? Would a recap fix this?

Thanks,

Armando
