Apple II

Recommend a configuration for a new (old) enthusiast?

I'm putting together an Apple II system as a gift. A reunion gift more or less. I have about 6 weeks to spec it out and gather the parts. Some of which I have laying around, some I need to purchase. This is for a user that had at one time had one. But has not used one in like 20 years.

ProTERM 3.1 and other versions

In my early days of modeming and bbs'ing I used ASCII Express and Novation Com-Ware, and the utilities that came with my MicroModem II. I also wrote and modified stuff to make it do what I wanted.

Software for SVA ZVX4 8" Drive Controller

Would love to get a copy of the support diskettes for this unit. A user named "Arf the Lab" mentioned having them, but the post is from 2005 so I doubt my PM will get through. But, I remain hopeful Smile

ADTpro silliness

I just discovered (thanks to a vodka-enhanced evening) that you can use ADTpro to bootstrap AppleWin!

This lends to the idea of using 2 Applewin emulators, on the same machine.. One running AE and the other running TeleCat BBS. Now I can organize (easily) my BBS rips and images. Which is my short-term project.

Help_The Best Way to Copy Files to the CFFA Card?

All,

I need help.

I have been away from doing regular Apple II stuff for a while.
I want to get back to it, but it seems somewhere along the path
(no pun intended)I have lost my way.

I am back at my trusty Platinum IIe trying to copy all of
my disks (Games and Utilites) to my CFFA Cards.
I have read the CFFA Manuals, but there does not seem to be a definite step-by-step
procedure for copying programs.

Apple IIe memory removal and replacement

My Apple IIe gives me the following after the RAM test RAM: 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0

I am assuming that it is stating that the chip at F6 is bad. Can I unsolder and replace? Is there any special trick to doing this to avoid damaging the other components or the replacement? As far as a replacement chip goes, am I limited to what I can scavenge from another motherboard or is there a source for getting new chips? Any and all advice is most appreciated. Thanks!
