I got it and it has no hard drive. I have a spare but it seems to have a weird power connector for the HD, it's a square instead of the normal rectangle...so I need to find that. Also when I start it up (sans HD) it chimes but I have a black screen even with a boot disk in the floppy...is it because It doesn't have a HD. Also along with the deal I got a NIC card with it. Not sure what brand but it's meant for it. It seems to have a processor slot (the NIC card) with nothing in it. Does that need to have a proc. in it to work?

Your black screen is possibly due to needing a new pram battery. Many Macs won't start when that battery is dead.
Some NICs for the LC/Performa line had math co-processor sockets. The 475 will not make use of that socket, and it should remain empty.
I am confounded by your hard drive's connector. Any chance you can post a photo?
You need a new PRAM battery.
No. It's a math coprocessor socket, which is *only* useful if the card is plugged into an earlier 68030-based LC model.

You are missing a cable that leads from the square connector on the logic board to the standard rectangle hard drive power connector.
If you are still missing that cable, then PM me... I might have a spare.
So now that I'm starting to get hardware issues out of the way my whole intent in this venture was to get it loaded with OS8 and MacHTTP and turn it into a little server. I've always wanted to have a low end Mac server. I have a 1GB HD that I'm planning on using, I know that OS won't take up a HUGE ammount but I started thinking about possibly running a trimmed down version of the OS on the floppy leaving the entire 1GB for storage. Now I know that System 6 and 7 can be trimmed down to floppy size...What about 8? I also know that MacHTTP will work with System 7.5(?) so if 8 can't cut it maybe I can go that route.

Edit: This may sound like a dumb question but can you use an IDE cable for a SCSI drive and whatnot?
(B) No, you must have a SCSI cable for a SCSI hard drive. In fact, for a P475 you need a special short SCSI cable. PM me if you want it along with the power cable.
