I have seen these before and most sites have some form of one, but I have not found a REALLY good one yet. Does any one know of a website where I may go and select my computer and then identify available hardware upgrades? Most of the ones I have seen are purely memory, or puremly hard drive, or limited to what the vendor carries. Most do not cover very many machines or older machines.
A good example is my Q950, I am looking for a site that can tell me the best hard drive (capactiy-wise) to put in, max memory available, best upgrade cards made, ...
Yeah, I can always look at the specs (but that won't tell me about the latest CPU upgrade, or account for the fact that a memory module may exist that is greater than the specs call for AND is proven to work in my machine) and then google stuff, but why go to all the trouble when I could at least start my search from a good upgrade configuration tool?

Maybe it's time you took up web-design and built that website for the rest of us.
I've not heard of anyone being so thorough on older Macs. Or even taking the time to keep updates on newer hardware well enough to make a useful DB of it all.
awww poop.
http://www.lowendmac.com
has fairly complete information as to what upgrades are possible/were available for most older Macs.
