I have an apple IIgs and an elgato screen capture card. How can I record stuff on my IIgs in realtime? what kind of adapter do I need to connect IIgs with elgato device which has HDMI input?

A VidHD card outputs all video modes in HDMI. It is wonderful. I do not know the capabilities of the Elgoto however.
Is the VidHD card still available anywhere?
Otherwise, the answer to your question OP can vary widely and vastly depending on the quality you need. If it were me (lacking a VidHD card) I would use a IIgs SCART cable and a quality retrogaming scaler like the retrotink products. This will upscale the analog RGB from the IIgs to HDMI beautifully.
