Weird Capacitor in Monitor //c

I'm try to repair/refurbish a Monitor //c and there's this weird capacitor that I can't find a replacement for.

C515 is a "4 uF 25V NP" cap. I can't find any such animal. Is there another cap I can safely use?

NP simply means the cap is

NP simply means the cap is non polarized.  Any 4 mfd, 25v or higher non polarized cap should work as a replacement, unless the cap is also HV (high voltage), which would also be marked on the cap.

If you have to buy a new cap,

If you have to buy a new cap, then absolutely get an NP cap. However if you're looking for a quick fix and have a decent supply of caps on hand, you can try two 4uf 25V polarized (e.g. electrolytic) caps in series back to back (i.e. + to +).

It's not the markings that's

It's not the markings that's the problem, it's the apparent availabily of a NP 4 uF capacitor of any voltage, much less 25V. I've checked Mouser and a couple of usual spots and can't find one.

If you can wait 2-3 weeks...

If you can wait 2-3 weeks....See eBay item number:323333285658

The 50v, 4.7UF/475 would be the closest.

20 pieces for US $1.33, free shipping from China to boot!.

Hope that helps.  Laurie.

There is a similar capacitor

There is a similar capacitor in the early mac analog board that tends to fail.I normally just use a few  1uF monolithic caps wiered in parallel to get the right value.

The 4.7uF monolithic in Lauries link will do the job fine though.
