Help with Safari 2.0.4 (OS X 10.4.9) Print Button

I lost the "Print" button in my toolbar and also lost the "customize toolbar" choice under the "View Menu" of Safari 2.0.4.

I have tried deleting the prefs for Safari but that didn't help. Is there something I am missing. Why would the customize toolbar option disappear from the View menu.

Thanks.

Do you have...

View>Customize Address Bar...

? Maybe they changed the name, since that's where it is on mine.

Old school idea:

Would it be feasible to re-install Safari (after saving bookmarks to a file, etc)? Just a thought.

New account? Bad Preferences?

Have you tried creating/logging in with a fresh account? Also, I've solved some problems I've had with programs in the past by removing the preference files that the program was using, and letting the program create a fresh set.

Try right clicking on the add

Try right clicking on the address bar and see if the contextual menu will come up and let you customize it. Make sure you click in the address bar and not the toolbar.

dhjsllc; Yes but unfortunatel

dhjsllc; Yes but unfortunately the latest version I have is Safari 1.xx. I have used Software Update many times to get to this current version.

vieuxnez; Yes as posted in the orig. question I have tried deleting the preferences but it didn't help. I will try going into my wife's account and see if her Safari is messed up.

BDub; The contextual menu comes up but without any toolbar customization choices.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

oops

I think I remember reading that you deleted the prefs the first time, then I forgot when I posted the last bit...

um...

OH! Have you tried safe booting? (hold down shift while starting the computer?) Could be there's some extension that's fighting with Safari. I've got some third party menu items that disappear sometimes, and usually they come back after a safe boot.

Permissions

Since Safari is an Apple app. there is some point to using Disk Utility to repair permissions, especially if you have been changing status to and from root to user or administrator, and more likely, from administrator to user. If this brings no change, and preference deletion has not worked for you, you may then have to reinstall Safari, with administrator privileges.
