Apple IIe HiRes mode issue

I recently purcahsed my first IIe, so still working things out. After fixing the PSU and replacing the CPU it is up and running, but with a few teething issues.

I added a 80 Col card to a Rev A motherboard, with the understanding that HiRes should work, but Double HiRes not.

Using something like XPS diagnostic the output in 80 Col mode shows spaces are replaced with an *

(Not a problem in 40 col mode)

I don't know if this is correct or an issue? Ideas would be appreciated!

Unstable Apple ][

Hello,

Forums:

Apple //c slow wave display

New topic as I continue to troubleshoot my old Apple //c and try to bring it back to life.

Now that it boots (yay!, thanks for the help from this forum), the display has a slow "wave" left-to-right that moves up from the bottom to top.   It is not the monitor.  I switched out the little //c monitor for a Apple Color Composite monitor.   Same symptom.

Just got an Apple IIe, boot issue

Heya guys, I got an Apple iie from an erecycling lot, I was able to get it to boot fine, but it was super dirty, so I cleaned the whole computer and reasembled it.

After I got it back together, when I turn on the IIe, it flashes a full white square, then fades out everyother line to go away, then comes back to a full white square, does one low beep, then repeats this.

I ran the self diagnosis, (holding both apple keys and turning it on) and its says "Kernel Okay"

[Solved] Apple //c diagnostic loops continuously

I have an Apple //c ROM3 (which I upgraded just for the diagnostic ability).

I started out with a bad RAM indicated in position low 7, replaced it, then next was position low 0, and then high 6.

After replacing high 6 RAM, now diagnostics runs continous loop with small color blocks showing, and then a brief flicker just when I am eagerly hoping for the message System OK.  But instead it seems to start over.

What is this telling me?

Apple ][+ will not boot from known good card and drive

Hi all,

I have a good, working Apple ][+ that I have used to verify a disk ][ drive and controller.    I got an a new-to-me ][+ from my dad's attic.  It will boot to ] prompt with no cards inside.  When I instal the controller into slot 6, and single disk ][ drive, it attempts to boot on power-up, and does the seek to track 0 clackity-clack, but never boots a known good diskette.

Any ideas what on the main logic board I can look to repair/replace?

Franklin Ace 500 errors

Hi!

I bought a Franklin Ace 500 on Craigslist, in box, with manual and power supply, but no disks. The composite out is very clear, showing "ACE 500 V1.0" and the copyright notices.

An Apple IIc buddy prepared some floppies for me. Some games, and a DOS 3.3 disk. inserting the DOS disk or most of the game disks and powering on results in:

ERR

0803=

None of the games work, some do nothing, with the drive just spinning and no prompt appearing,  one showed "Relocation/Configuration error" another shows:

ERR

07FB=

Help with formatting and installing DOS 3.3 onto a floppy for a Apple IIe

Greetings!

I just found an old Apple IIe and bought some floppies that are DS/DD and I am having some trouble formatting and installing certain games or programs onto a the floppy.

I did everything as instructed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DRql_Z-d7k&t=105s

However once I put in the floppy, turn the Apple IIe on, type LOAD and play the audio it says loading INSTA-DISK but shortly after I get a CHKSUM ERROR.

Any help would be appriciated.

May have an EDD+ and //gs 1Mb memory card to trade.

Howdy folks.  I obtained my //gs motherboard and power supply today, both of which thankfully work.

It also came with a beat up case, a fully populated Apple 1Mb memory expansion card (which I don't need because I have a RAMGS/8 for it, and is probably worthless), and an Essential Data Duplicator Plus card, revision B.

IIe female power connector part number?

Does anyone know the part number (or generally what I need to look for at an electronics supply store) for the female (motherboard-side) power connector for the IIe?  I'm looking to get one to solder into a ROM1 IIgs board that I'm putting in a IIe case.

Thanks!  :D
