Apple II GS, System 6 and RAM

I have an Apple II GS, ROM 1, with the original motherboard and RAM. I've tried booting GS OS via Floppy EMU and System 6.0.1 via the Apple2Online Store floppy, and each time I get the error message "RAM disk too large or not enough memory. Error = $0201."

The computer used to boot using the original hard drive with System 6 (though I could be mistaken which OS was installed), so I would think there's enough RAM to boot using Floppy EMU or an actual boot floppy. I'm reluctant to use the original hard drive until I'm ready to back it up, since it is 40 years old at this point.

Apple II (euro)Plus Keyboard of hell

Hello girls,

I don't know if my house is haunted or if I should quit this hobby, but I'm facing the Keyboard of Hell on my Apple II Europlus repair.

Or maybe the whole thing is cursed, as it's the 5th thing in a row I repair and it's not yet fully functional.

Anyway ; symptoms are bizarre

- Nearly EACH key I type is immediatly followoed by an underscore (a key that is not on the keyboard by the way)

- If i barely touch the cable, it registers underscores as well (I think it's like the 50Hz noise my fingers carry that make it regsiter that)

ProDOS, Apple ][+, and Autostart ROM Language Card

I have an Apple ][+ with what I believe is the Autostart ROM Language Card.  When I try to boot ProDOS 2.4.2 date 18-JAN-18, it reports "REQUIRES 64K."  I know ProDOS places itself into the Language Card space.  Does ProDOS recognize this card as memory?  I tried to write to all of the memory locations $C080 to $C08F and I could not crash the computer while in the monitor, which I do not know if it's a good test.

Thanks,

Dan

Apple II power supply restoration?

Hi All,

I have an Apple II power supply with an early serial number that i'm looking to refurbish.. I know ReactiveMicro sells repair services ($90)..

1) Is it worth it?

2) Is this something I could generally do myself with a soldering iron and multimeter?

Copy/Backup GS/OS Boot Partition

I have an Apple IIgs with an external SCSI hard drive. I'd like to backup that SCSI drive's boot partition with GS/OS System 6 onto a bootable Floppy Emu image.  Is there a special procedure for copying a System 6 boot disk? I am having issues. Here's what's happening ...

Apple II Arduino Uno and Shield interface

Based on the feedback I got, I had an idea to derive an interface that can plug an Arduino Shield or an Arduino Uno into the Apple II bus using a 82C55 peripheral interface chip.  By soldering stackable headers into the Apple II card, an Arduino Uno can be plugged into the back of the card, and shields can be plugged into the front of the card.  There are resistors between the 82C55 and the Arduino pins to protect the Apple II and allow the transactions to be inputs or outputs.  You can find the card at

Apple iie booting up ProDOS crash?

Just got myself a Apple IIe off eBay which had a PSU issue. Repaired the PSU and computer is now booting. I've run the self diagostic test and all looks good.

I now thought I'd build myself the ProDOS ROM from https://github.com/tjboldt/ProDOS-ROM-Drive

I've written the GamesWithFirmware.po to a 27C801 and verified ok. Have also tested all the logic chips and double checked my soldering - all good.

When I bootup the computer ProDOS starts but them seem to crash, at least it looks like a crash to me.

The Dan ][ SD card disk controller

Hello,

I have designed and built a Apple ][ card that can interface two SD cards as ProDOS block devices.  It uses very commonly available chips, and is based on the ATMEGA328P microcontroller and 82C55 peripheral interface.  It uses simple readily available parts to be easy to reproduce, now and into the future.   It can host ProDOS order block devices from either raw block device SD cards or from FAT filesystem formatted SD cards.  I also have planned interfacing the card to a Wiznet 5500 for Ethernet support.
