Help with a elusive Disk ][ drive problem

I have a Disk ][ drive that I brought back from the dead.  It seemed to be stored in a moist area that was not conducive to it’s good health (cast aluminum oxidized, dirt, other tell tale signs).  After cleaning and lube, it started working again and i used it a couple times to read some disks.  Then it seemed to stop and there was no sign of the normal head banging when booted when hooked to Drive1 on the controller.  I opened it up, and recleaned the head rails/slide, removed all the grease, and changed the pressure slightly of the tab that rides in the track of the plastic cam.

Apple 2 emulator for Linux

I would like help finding and installing an Apple 2 emulator for Linux - more specifically, Ubuntu 22.04 lts

I may need very specific help, as I am far from being a programmer - I don't even know how to compile...

Apple 2c possible "check disk drive" message causes

When viewing the 4th screenshot at this auction link, what are some of your opinions as to the possible things wrong with this system...   Obviously it is likely a bad disk drive, but I thought that perhaps something else may also cause this on screen error message....

link is:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/325162751429

and again it is screenshot #4

Disk ][ card on Apple II Europlus

Hello everyone,

One replacement chip after the other, my Apple II Europlus is coming closed and closer to live again.

Now I've got a perfectly booting APple II europlus + language RAM card

However as soon as I plug the Disk 2 card, the display just shows "APPLE II" at the top, and has small verticals lines in it (seems a siganl is interfering witht he sync)

Weird video problem I can't diagnose, and a mystery daughterboard at the scene of the crime...need help!

So, i'm in the middle of restoring a recent eBay purchase, a very low serial number Bell & Howell Apple II. The unit is remarkably unscathed after 43 years, with a case in near perfect condition. The hardware inside is all Apple-manufactured.  There's just one problem. The video is out of sync..and I dont know enough about how video works to fix it, or even explain what's going on.

Free to a good home

I have an Apple 2e platinum to give away.  It has a working disk drive, color monitor.  Also with this a kraft joystick and apple paddles.  All tested and working.  I live in Indianapolis, and am not interested in shipping all of this, so for local pickup only.  Manuals, disks and books go with it.  Please text me at 317 796-9458, or it goes to Goodwill.  Thanks for reading.

Chris

P.S.  I will post when it is claimed.

Cannot format disk w/ Apple IIc & ADTPro: I/O ERROR

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum. My neighbor found an old Apple IIc in his storage unit and I thought it would be super fun to restore it and write some 6502 assembly/C programs for it.

So far, I can boot and run AppleSoft BASIC, and I can play Oregon Trail from a disk I bought off eBay, no problems.

655-0101 Disk Controller Card

Hello group,

a friend gave me a 655-0101 5.25” controller card to play with because someone ripped the ribbon cable off. All that’s left are the 20 posts coming up out of the board. I have a DB19 and ribbon cable to make up that end but would anyone have any suggestions for attaching it to the card? I could solder each wire directly to the board itself but I’m looking for something a little more sturdy than that. Be great if someone had a cable they’d want to sell but until then I’d like to come up with something.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Randy
