Troubleshooting a DuoDisk unit

I'm working through a problem with the second drive in my DuoDisk unit.  Specifically, it spins up, but the head doesn't read the disk.

This leads me to suspect two possible culprits:  the read head or the stepper motor.

Is there any troubleshooting tips?  Any way I can rule out the stepper motor at least?I take it back.  I didn't realize it, but the characteristic chatter when a disk drive starts is the stepper motor.  So presumably it's fine.  That leaves the read head...

I have a Apple /// bought as defect , now working after help from this forum,

https://www.applefritter.com/content/apple-iii-without-any-text

There is one problem left, the keyboard is not working properly , keys 1,Q,S,X,3,6 and 9 does not work. . All these keys are connected to Y1 in the keyboard. The separate key contacts are OK and the connection Y1 from the keyboard to pin 18 on the keyboard controller 341-0035 is OK. All other keys are OK.

Which Apple II programs are able to use more than 128k ram?

Is there a list of Apple II programs that take advantage of upgraded memory over the typical 128kb? With all the 1mb, 4mb, 8mb ram cards out there for hobbyists, I'm just wondering what these cards can do for running software. I know some use those cards as ram disks, but I'm strictly looking for answers about software.

Apple IIe PAL - Does not boot

Hello!

I have an Apple IIe model A2S2064. This has mainboard 820-0073-B, B607-0264-F.

This is the PAL version of the Apple IIe, and it's a UK model.

I removed the machine from storage, and on initial poweron, the PSU was ticking. I reseated the 80col expansion card, and the machine booted OK.

However, when I powered on the machine yesterday, the machine went immediately into the self diagnostics, and reported "KERNEL OK". Rebooting the machine with CTRL-APPLE-RESET starts the diagnostic again.

What is the lower-case modification?

I've always wondered what the lowercase/shiftkey modification is. Obviously it adds lowercase characters to the otherwise uppercase Apple II, but how does it relate to my II+ clone? Let me explain.

My clone keyboard (partly pictured below) has a lockable pushbutton switch with a red LED in place of the regular "Power" light. In normal 40 column mode nothing happens when you press it, but in 80-column mode (Videx Videoterm card) I get lowercase letters when it's pressed down, and to get uppercase you use the SHIFT key.

IIc Ram errors

Transferring and converting files (II+ to Mac)

Having had success with ADTPro in audio mode (Apple II cassette IN/OUT transfers) I'm eagerly awaiting a USB to serial adapter (FTDI chipset) for transferring more of my 5.25" II+ floppy disks over to my Mac. I intend to use them with an emulator of some kind (haven't decided on any in particular but have played around with Virtual ][ in trial mode but I know there are others as well.

Vsdrive problem?

No matter what I do, ADTpro from either:

Apple //e - Enhanced with SSC

or

Apple //c

will boot ADTpro, then VSdrive, then BASIC ... but then go to PRODOS BASIC and not load VSDRIVE.

Both give errors when I type in "-vsdrive" one saying something along the lines of "out of range" on the //c and "device not connected" on the //e.

Both load ADT properly, and I can transfer software to floppy.

Any thoughts?

Appleworks freezing on print screen.

Hey I just recently picked up an apple iic and I don't have any prior experience with one I am a 1993 baby so it's all new to me so I'm just figuring everything out slowly  This is the first time I've done anything with a 5.25 floppy drive, I Remember using 3.5 floppy in school but it wasn't for very long.

Colour output missing (Apple II+)

For some reason I'm not getting any colour output from my II+ clone. The monitor (composite input) is attached to the video output on the back of the computer. Other than that there are no other issues with the video (it displays fine, but only in black/white), and everything else appears to work on the computer.

So I looked up the Applebox diagram (which illustrates what each IC does) and I've swapped the following ICs, alas without any difference:
