Laser 128 ROM Dump ROM VER 3.5

I recently obtained a Laser 128 system. When testing it I tried to see if a FloppyEMU would work in any 3.5 modes, but had no luck. I tried ROM versions 4.2 and 4.5 before finding out they were for a slightly newer revision of the system.

I see some other versions of the system ROM online, mainly 2.9, 4.x, 6.0, and 6.1. I did not see this 3.5 version anywhere. Unfortunately I don't think it supports 800k drives, just a 140K drive on S6D2 on the external port. However, I hope someone with a Laser 128 on version 2.9 or 3.x prior to 3.5 can give this a try.

I just got this printer card with no documentation, and I couldn't find any in the usual places I know of. Does anyone out there have a manual for it?

DOS3.3 worth it?

Hi!  As you probably already know, I am working on some text advemture code for different cc65 targets, including the Apple2enh.  I want to port it to the regular Apple2, also, and DOS 3.3.  I think that would be a usable platform, as I should have 48k RAM and think DOS 3.3 uses less RAM than ProDOS.  I have the Beneath Apple DOS etext, but it is too technical and doesn't describe how to use DOS from assembler.  Should I persue using DOS 3.3 for a text adventure?  If so, what book should I download?  I have access to an asimov mirror site.

Apple Disk ][ Controller

The disk ][ controller from another Apple IIe I own has decided that it is no longer working. It worked for a short while, in the sense that plugging in a floppy drive seemed to work fine. At one point by disconnecting and reconnecting the floppy drive (with the computer off) when I turned it on again, I smelled an unpleasant smell coming from the controller. I turned everything off.

Apple IIe - strange clock problem

I've got a US Apple IIe Rev B. 64K MB that is DOA, was given to me.  Gradually I've been troubleshooting why it doesn't initialize.  The PSU is good, power light turns on, voltages are clean and proper values on all filter caps, but no beep on power-up, just a brief flash of about 2" of lines at bottom of Apple  Monitor /// then darkness.  I'm testing bare motherboard, nothing in slots.

1.  On power-up, pin 40 on CPU stays low, it does not toggle low from high and back to high.

Vulcan SSD

A while ago I picked up a couple of RAID arrays that used 500gb and 250gb OCZ SSDs. These are older unusually slow SSDs. Slow enough that I don’t want to use them with any modern or even semi-modern equipment.

One thought was to use 2 in a couple of Vulcans. I’ve used CF adapters on the Vulcan cards but not inside the power supply. I connected a IIgs CF to a Mac but of course the Mac couldn’t read it. Vulcans use their own partitioning scheme. I used BalenaEtcher which will copy what’s on the hardware to clone it and it’s partition table onto the SSD.

Selling basic 2e

Will sell my old 2e with nothing in the slots but an 80 column card. All original chips and everything worked when I last used it last year. I will miss doing the text adventure games (solved all those Infocoms), but I am 76 yrs old and must move on....hopefully not in the "bad sense", but maybe someone can use this baby for parts or as a build. Best offer before Christmas. Hopefully US because shipping can be expensive internationally.

Apple //e color composite monitor help needed...

Anyone have advice on troubleshooting a apple model a2m6021? Got no power, I haven't found schematic so obviously prior knowlege will be important. But before the easy electrical stuff I have a physical issue that I can't figure out... it appears the back panel isn't separating from the case when opening it up, is that correct? Shouldn't that powre/control panel stay with the frame  not the case?

Text Adv. Code for cc64/128k Apple2enh doesn't work!

Hi!  I have some code for cc65 around which one can build a text adventure.  It currently works for the C64, the 64k Plus4, the C128 and the 8-bit Atari series.  I've been working on an Apple2enh port.  So far, it works for a 64k Apple2enh but not a 128k Apple2enh.  :(  It uses the A2SimpleIO, ProDOSi and, for the 128k version, AuxMemApple libraries.  When a stub is being loaded, the system gives me the monitor, and the location of the PC is $02C0.  This area is defined by the config files but is unused.  The 64k version works, though.  I am attaching parts of the main module, the stub-load
