Cherry MX key preference

I'm looking into the possibility of building up some ASCII keyboards for those who prefer not to build their own. The options for keys are Futaba MD-series keys and the various Cherry MX options. For those of you who have tried out different Cherry MX keys, I'm interested to hear your key switch preference for an Apple I/II keyboard.I while ago I got a sampler keypad with the various Cherry MX types, and I thought that the Cherry MX Red was a good feel, and closest to what I expect for the era.

UtherNet / NIC Cards and Software

I'd like to hear some experiences, and suggestions, regarding Ethernet NIC cards, including the Uthernet; as well as what software can make use of them; e.g. for IRC or for Lynx.

Further, if there are other GS/OS chat or Internet must-have utilities that would work with them; and what slots they tend to use.

Apple //c high memory app crashes?

I recently just got my very first Apple II, a //c ROM version 255 hooked up to a floppy emu. The computer turns on, seems to boot fine, AppleSoft works etc. I can run some programs fine like Oregon Trail but others either crash straight away like every version of Merlin, crash a bit later like Apple II desktop or a2osX or have strange symptoms. Sometimes it's just one or two characters being replaced by the delete character other times it's weird issues like all visible text in AppleWorks just vanishing.

Fried IIGS ADB Port

So... My IIGS was working just fine and I plugged a ADB cable I'd never used before into it and became distracted momentarily by something else. I soon, however, noticed a bad smell, and reached down to find that the ADB cable I'd plugged in was quite warm, almost hot to the touch. I shut the IIGS off and unplugged the new cable, and I tried one that I knew worked (and had just tested with my Performa 6200CD), but to my significant dismay, the ADB port no longer responded.

Apple //e picture issue

Hello again - I hope it's ok to keep the subjects separated in different threads.

I have tonight put together my Apple monocrome monitor - filter caps had gone - and unfortunately I still experience the same weird graphic issues I was observing on my LCD monitor. It looks like one vertical line is missing.

Please see below, can you help me? I believe the switch on the motherboard is set to monocrome (it doesn't say which is which but in this mode it seems more suitable for the screen).

Text mode seems ok.

Apple disk ][ service

Hello there,

As my two Disk ][ drives were making unhappy noises, I searched the web for some instructions but the german website I often see linked on these forums is not available anymore.

Part Number (cross) for Apple Paddle Momentary Switch

Do any of you have a cross-ref part number for the momentary switches used on the original Apple Paddles?

The factory switches were either red, or black. I have seen both types used (mine are red), an I have seen sets with one of each colour (red paddle 0, black paddle 1).

I could use a p.n for either or both.

One of the closest matches that I have seen is this:

ADTPro help - unable to send data

Greetings all,

This is my first post here! A few days ago I managed to get an Apple //e and I am very excited as I used to have one when I was a kid.

Luckily it comes with the Super Serial card but without 10-pin adaptor. So I made one myself. After recapping the power supply I have powered it up today and it works-ish (drives need TLC and my LCD monitor doesn't seem to like the composite output - or there is an issue on that. The green phosphor Apple monitor is still waiting for some caps which I found exploded!).

AppleWriter II for Apple II plus and AE 80 column card not working.

So I have a Applied Engineering Viewmaster 80 column card in my apple II plus. When I use Applewriter II for the apple II plus. It engauges the 80 column card but dos not work corretly. The command CTRL I 1 does not disble the 80 column card. So I have to bypass it.  The viewmaster just says to reboot the computer. I also found out the Apple Writer II is only compatible out of the box with a super R terminal 80 column card.  The Veiwmaster is compatible with the Video Term card. Yes I have tried video term patchs and such. Some stuff works great The other stuff does not.
