Apple II

I picked up a pristine II+ years ago but the original owner says that he thinks he fried a ROM chip and possibly others... I have never plugged it in, in fear that it would blow up on me

You occasionally see a 'for parts' Apple ][ on eBay or other sites that is throwing up some garbage characters or graphics onto the screen. Is there a page or document that categorises these artifacts into possible points of failure? My machines are working at the moment but I feel like a handy reference guide could save me some trouble in the future.

I don't recall seeing anything like this in the Technical Reference Manual or elsewhere, but apologies if it's in an obvious place.

As the subject states I'd like to know if there's a known way to get stereo sound out of a IIgs without having to take up a slot with a stereo card. Detailed information on all the stereo sound options seems a bit limited; currently I have a Drew ][ TDX card, and it's nice, but a slotless solution would be nicer.

My friend and I were discussing bit-copy programs from the early 80’s for the Apple II. He recalled that there was a program that when you pressed for help it told you to “write your question on a bathroom wall”. I recalled seeing that too and I thought it was Locksmith, but I tried a few Locksmith versions and I didn’t see a help option. Does anyone remember which program had this help joke?
