Apple II

Is a Novation Internal Modem with Cat 212 Expansion board...

Worth Anything....

I finally got around to getting my newly acquired Apple II Plus up and running (long story on what I needed to get it working), but it had this "dual" card modem setup. I distinctly remember this being a phone freaker favorite, but don't know if I should eBay this card or just throw it in a box of spare parts. I most likely have the software for it as the machine came with a bunch of disks, but I haven't had a change to go through them yet as I don't have the disk drive hooked up yet.

Thanks,
Corey

Un Forking Files on the Apple //e

So I can get a file from Asimov onto my Mac, to ProDOS8 formatted CF card, and that into the Apple //e. But then when I go to unShrink the file I get a "forked file" error. I came across this entry;

021- How can I unfork forked files on my Apple II?

You can do it 'by hand' using a block editor to change filetype, etc. information in a
directory block; or, you can use UnforkIt. UnforkIt is a BASIC program by Ivan Drucker
which splits a forked file into two files, neither of which is forked.

New Panasonic RQ2102 on ebay $31 with shipping

If anyone is looking the original Apple recommended cassette player for their Apple II, Apple I or Mimeo, on ebay someone must have gotten a bunch, either panasonic actually shipped new ones or they found some in a warehouse. Lately almost everyone on the net has been out of this one and the ones that had them had prices that went normally from $30 to $60 or more. I just grabbed one last week slightly used for around the same price plus shipping so I paid $40 total, so this is a great deal at $31 for brand spanking new.

General hardware help for all, how the hell are we gonna do it all?

As vintage computers age, there will be growing checklist of things to do on a newly acquired system 30 years old which is ailing.

We could begin with learning to identify parts.
Know when they have burned up. Note the smell, the color, the temperature.
Look, listen, smell, touch, know when something isn't right. Know when it is.
