Apple II

Woz's 70th Birthday

Apple II+ joystick cable to iie joystick how to plug in.

Being lazy and I wanted to brag. Even before I got my apple II plus. I had a person bring in some recyceing and for my eyes it included what I only know as a II+ to IIe adaptor cable. But no manual and no pin allignment. Got to love cables back in the day. So any ideas? The closet I have is I found a diagram that shows pin 1 should be 5+ volts. I'm thinking the cable plug in will face toward the back to push the connect out the back of the apple ii.  The joystick I picked up on epay for under $20.00 including shipping. I thought it was a good deal.

Floppy notcher

So, getting back into my Apple //e recently and after getting ADTPro working (and the Online Disk Server), I decided to notch some of my floppies to use side 2.

So, I grabbed my trusty hole punch, just like in ye olde days.

Then I remembered those neato disk notchers, and checked ebay.  Seeing only one at or over $100 or so, decided that wasn't the route.. ;-)

Then I decided to check Thingiverse to see what 3D printer options might be available to help.

Actually did find a "floppy notch guide" to help line up your hole punch better!

Grappler and software incompatibility??

OK, maybe not, but this was weird.

I got my //e set back up and decided to ADT (yes, I am using that as a verb) some of the original disks that came with it...

So I put Inside Story on a floppy and ran that.

Then I went for "An introduction to your Apple //e."

Firstly, several of the ones on Asimov labeled as that are actually the Inside Story.  ;-)

But after using AppleWin to find the real ones, I copied it..

And it didn't run....  ;-(

It booted, and looked like it might, but just a black screen.

Apple IIe 5.25” Floppy drive A9M0107 wont read or write?

Hi all, my Apple IIe floppy drives have stopped reading/writing after using a couple of new old stock floppy disks. This has happened previously with some old disks but a good head clean gets it back up and reading/writing. This time nothing has worked. Sadly I tried a spare drive and its suffered the same fate, has anyone else been in the same situation that can offer solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Unclaimed Sound / Failed RAM Error 0C000001

Greetings...

I've got a IIgs that had been working fine; last night, while booting, it presented an "Unclaimed Sound Interrupt" error. I tried every troubleshooting option I could find online (removed peripherals, reseated chips, etc.) to no luck. After running the built in diagnostics, I ended up with a $0C000001 - Sound RAM data error issue.

It looks like the Sounds RAM chips are not socketed so there's nothing to reseat. I inspected the board front and back and don't see any obvious issues. Any suggestions on what to try next?

DIY PS2 to Apple II Mouse Card adapter

Hello all:

New member here.  I FINALLY own an Apple IIe.  When I was a kid back in the early 1980's I always wanted an Apple II but it wasn't in the family budget.  After almost 36 years I finally own one.  I became a vintage computer collector several years back as it fuels my nostalgia or the early days when I learned to code and hack.  The unit I bought on eBay does not have a mouse and the M0100 mice on eBay are way over priced.  So I am setting out to build my own adapter to use a PS2 mouse on an Apple IIe.

Apple III Wont Load SOS

So now I got the system back together and I'm facing another issue. I can boot the confidence disk and the diagnostic disk just fine but if i boot anything that has SOS on it, it crashes and freezes. At first I thought it might be the disk drive so I tried loading the ADTPro Boot disk through ADTPRO over serial and as soon as it begins loading SOS, it crashes and locks up. usually with the drive stuck spinning.
