Best way to expand storage

So I've got my Platinum //e running well with a DuoDrive. But having only 280K of storage online at any one time is kinda limiting. Especially with things like UCSD Pascal, which involve some disk swapping.

I have another Disk II controller card, so adding a couple more 5.35" drives would be pretty easy. That's one option.

I'd much prefer a 3.5" drive, but the controller cards for those are rarer than hen's teeth. There's one on eBay now for $200, which seems high.

Or I could just hold my breath and wait for the next run of CFFA3000 cards.

Disabling write-protect on Uni-Disk 5.25 for 2 series?

Like it says on the cover. Is there a simple way to disable the write-protect feature on 5.25 drives, model A9M0107? These are the ones in the white plastic case with the permanently attached DB-style cable.. The ones with the pass-through option.

No cutting or soldering of wires are allowed. Nor is breaking loose the optical sensor. Anything I do will need to be 100% reversible.

Well off to find the schematics and perhaps work from there.

Rescued an Apple IIgs

little background on the scenerio:

Back in November 2012 i was scanning my local classifieds and saw an ad for a apple iigs selling for $150 cdn. It was only the computer, keyboard, a 3.5 unidisk, and a manual. For $150 that was way too much and it wasnt even a woz edition by the looks of the pictures.

Apple ii VGA Card

Unfortunately this website is 'temporarily' out of business.
But WOW , a whole bunch of cool cards.

The VGA card looks complete, as well as the IDE controllers.

My (new to me) IIgs

I just got a good deal on a ROM3 IIgs, with one of the Buggie power supplies, and couln't pass it up. The LEDs work now on my enhanced keyboard, and with my Briel memory expansion, I now have over 5mb of memory. My CFFA3000 works great, too.

Apple II games

So I'm trying to play some of the Apple II games I loved, back in the day...and not having much success. FWIW, this system has an Applied Engineering TransWarp card, but the results are identical regardless of whether the card is running or is disabled via the ESC key at boot.

Lode Runner-- Once the game starts, all key presses are ignored. Sometimes banging on the entire keyboard will start the miner running in one direction or the other, but no single key does this reliably.
