A2Oasis/Win98SE: error mounting disks

Hi!  I currently can't try any suggestions, as the Win98SE tower is at my mother's house, and I left her house yesterday evening, but I have a problem with the A2Oasis emulator on the tower: I tried inserting two disk images, and both gave me an error message.  I don't remember what the message was, but it was an invalid format one.  Is there a bug with the version I'm using, or do I need to do something special to get them to work?  I didn't check the version #.

Need help adjusting disk ii down pressure

Hello group,

I have a disk ii that has poor down pressure when the door is closed. The drive performs fine (how I don’t know) but there’s clearly no where’s near the pressure you feel when I close all my others. I checked that all the washers are in the hub, and both springs are present. Anyone know how to improve this closing pressure? A better way to describe it is it feels like the hub isn’t giving the down pressure on the disk when the door is closed.

S-C Assembler v2.0 for DOS 3.3 crashes to monitor on startup

Does anyone know how to fix the this version of the S-C Assembler (v2.0 for DOS 3.3) such that it boots normally with the AppleWin emulator?

The following occurs:

Orig Apple II               - it crashes to address 9D89

Apple II+                     - it crashes to address 9D89

Apple IIe                      - it crashes to address 9D89

Apple IIe(enhanced) - it crashes to address 9D88

NB Apple DOS versions 1.0 and 1.1 boot normally as does the ProDOS version 2.0

New UK Appler - need help with a PAL/UK IIe

Hi all,

I run vintage computer exhibitions out of a UK university - we do big ones that are open to the public and also smaller, pop-up ones during our open days and in outreach events at local schools. Most of the machines I showcase are from my own personal collection, so as such are heavily biased towards UK legends of the 80s - Sinclair Spectrums, BBC Micros etc. But there's also plenty from your side of the pond too, Commodores, Ataris etc. I recently acquired my first Apple for the collection, a UK PAL IIe in absolutely glorious condition.

Apple II Merlin MON mode

Hello,

for my DISK II project, I need to write some ASM code on Apple II to simulate various disk protection mecanism (as per TOME  OF Protection),

Running  a VIRTUA II emulator on my mac with an Apple //e image and Merlin 2.58, I started entering the BELL demo program:

* DEMO

     ORG $300

BELL EQU $FBDD

START JSR BELL

END RTS

I can compile with ASM, save the source and the object file, but I am struggling with the MON mode in the editor

I should see the compiled code when I do

* 300L

Connecting multiple Apple II joysticks?

On a device like the Paddle-Adapple, is the "A/B" switch just disconnecting the 5V line so that both joysticks are not active at the same time?

Does anyone possibly have one to test?Thank you!

Apple III Monochrome Display

I want an excellent condition Apple III monitor monochrome display. I bought one on ebay that came with an Apple IIe I bought and the display is too dim and I think it is defective. I remember the display as being rather bright when I was kid. Ebay charges $150+ for these monitors and there is no way to know their conditions from the webpage. Where can I get one for a fair price? How could I fix/troubleshoot the one I have? Does anyone have one they want to sell?

Software Automated Mouth (S.A.M.) not working :(

Hi everyone, I've finally got my Apple ii clone working after much trouble. I'm now running a ROMX :)

I'm trying to get SAM (S.A.M. Software Automated Mouth) to work but I never hear any audio.

I type RUN S.A.M. and select either DEMO, SPEECHES or SAYIT but no sound.

I connect my logic probe to the CLOCK pin11 of the 74LS273 (Octal D flip-flop) to see if its being triggered and I get nothing.

If I jump to monitor and type "C0C0 0" I hear a click from the speaker and my logic probe fires off with a breif logic low. Note S.A.M. is in slot4
