Apple II

Vernier Software

this is pretty cool. This company I found while googleing, STILL supports the Apple II. they say they got thier start in 1981 by writing software for the Apple II, and still support it to this day. They make sensors and probs that work for it to. they plug in the game port, and can provide temperature and other data, and thier software is really well made. check it out

Seeking Apple II Hardware Failure Descriptions

Hi, I'm trying to write a short story that involves an Apple II undergoing some sort of catastrophic hardware failure. Unfortunately I'm too young to have used an Apple II (my first computer was a 386), so my description will be unfaithful unless I get some first hand accounts.

Does anyone have any horror stories about Apple IIs biting the dust? I've had power supplies blow up and hard drives crash and I'm wondering what the equivalent disasters for Apple IIs would be. Any plausible scenarios that would result in a small fire would be nice too.

Apple I for Apple II

Here is a program to run the Apple I monitor (and other Apple 1 programs with a small patch) on an Apple II.

There are patches to echo a character to the display and get a key from the keyboard. I am not sure if newlines work quite properly as I don't have an Apple I to see how these actually work. It uses HGR2 for the display so that the RAM from 0.3FFF is available.

Control L will clear the screen. Control Q will quit. Control ^ will allow you to enter control L and control Q and control ^.

Please Help

I have an Apple 2 plus, with most of its original hardware and software. All seems to work well, but I cannot enter anything with the keyboard. I have tryed replugging the keyboard in, but nothing I try to do works.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,

Smith

Apple IIc Plus and Fujitsu external 3.5" Floppy drive problems

I recently acquired an external Fujitsu 3.5" 800k floppy drive. I cannot get it to work with my IIc Plus. According to the system manual....the drive should be recognized as slot 5, drive 2. Instead it sees it as slot 6 drive 1. The l.e.d. comes on, but it wont read any disks. I do a verify and it says the disk is write protected when it's not. I can't format a disk, verify a disk, or catalog a disk from the external floppy. Could the drive be toast?

Thanks in advance.

IIc keyswitch problem

I just dug out my //c to get some stuff setup to let my child play with, and I found that the Control key is loose. I took apart the //c to discover that the top of the keyswitch has come apart and the only thing keeping the key in place is the key underlay that is built-in to the //c. I need to know how to get the cap back on, or somehow get it back together. I don't wanna pry on the keys much until I know how they come off. I can get the bottom (toward the user) side of the key cap to latch back on, but the top side might either be not latching or broken.
