Apple Power Suppply Question with AR1*

Hi,

Upon reviewing the Apple II PLUS power supply schematics --on the whole is a very simple SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply). Being a design engineer (Microprocessor designer) and designed some complex SMPS myself (20KW and 50 KW).

Wirh my background knowledge... I am POSITIVELY STUMPED by the two components on the schematics. First loock at the bottom of the schematic you'll find C8 and a transistor labelled AR1* and a warning icon next to it (triangle with a !).

Apple //c key problem?

Dusted off my //c the other day from my childhood and tried playing some of the games me and my friends made and favorites like lode runner, carmen sandiago and others. I think something is messed up with the directional keys because without pushing anything it automatically goes left or in other games doesn't work at all. I know it's a old computer but i hope there's some way to fix it.
Thanks

Apple II PLUS Power Supply Schematics request.

Hi, I am working on another Apple II PLUS computer. The power supply has a bad electrolytic capacitor. And I need a high quality scan of the power supply's schematics. I believe it is the Astec. I know there may be a couple versions of this schematic, but the one that looks like mine is the one in the Apple II II+ Reference manual. If you scan this, please use the highest scan resolution possible. Also, if you know how to, reverse the pixel colors, meaning make the white background black and the drawing itself white. I find reading this easier to read.

ADTPro : File/Disk Image size mismatch

While trying to transfer Infocom's Lurking Horror or Wings of Fury (around 140K each) my ADTpro gives me the message (FILE/DISK IMAGE mismatch copy anyway?)
When I try to copy it freezes at block 170 or so.

Any suggestions?

Dos 3.3 Disk Repair

Hi

I have an old DOS 3.3 disk that's got an error on it, and it won't catalog. It's one of the most important disks I want to get the contents off, and I kind of valuable remember years ago doing something to it, and I think I might have damaged the catalog track. I wonder is there a way to repair disks on Apple 2's as it's been so long I cannot remember if there is any options.

Media For Apple IIe

Hi,

I reacently aquired an Apple IIe and would like to make back up copies of some of the programs. But I don't have any more blank 5.25 floppys. Where do you get your blank floppys and what type are they? (single side, double side, dual density, high density, etc...)

Thank you in advance.

Is it possible to use a Y-cable on an Apple IIe to connect two 2-button joysticks?

I see some 9-pin Y-cables for sale on Ebay and was wondering if those could be used to connect two 2-button joysticks to an Apple IIe at the same time. I am not interested in 2 player gaming at the same time, but in having the ability to try out 2 different joysticks while playing in single player mode without having to disconnect one and connect the other.

-Thanks

Apple Pascal requires autostart/applesoft?

I recently built an Apple II Replica (Mike Willegal's) and for a real vintage feel I decided to use Integer Basic EPROMs.

What I have noticed is Apple Pascal and Wizardy won't boot and complain about not finding system.apple (Pascal) or btstrp.apple (Wizardry).

Both used to boot fine on an Apple II+ board in the same chassis. I did swap floppy drives and that made no difference.

Dos 3.3 and a handful of games boot fine.

Was there a requirement to use Applesoft PROMs?

Thanks,

Mike
