ALF Music synthesizer

I'm looking for details on the ALF Music system card, for an Apple ][,
from about 1978.

If anyone has one they no longer want/need, I can provide a home for it.

If I recall correctly, this was a 3-voice card using an early AY-8910
sound chip.

Delete key doesn't work (?)

I am new to the Apple II scene, so I'm not sure what to expect out of the systems, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to clear a character off my screen!

I turn on my Apple II and press Control+Reset. At the prompt, I type in some characters. Pressing delete just prints a square grid cursor.

When I'm in ADTPro, the delete key moves the cursor to the right, but doesn't delete the character. If the default name for a disk is "BLANK" and I want to call it "GAME" there's no way to get that ending "K" deleted (the rest of the characters can be overwritten).

Picked up a non-working //c. Powers up but no disk access, lots of garbage on the screen.

Anyone know someone who can repair this ?

Apple IIc shows no color on screen

Hello Friends of the good Apple II,

i have obtain a Apple IIc and i get no colour picture on screen. We have here PAL TV Standard. I tried the Pal Modulator with the 15 Pin Connector and through the RCA Connector. I get all times only a b/w picture without any colour. What can i do? My TV supports NTSC and PAL. I thought that it maybe a NTSC Apple IIc but the Label says 220-240 Volt, so i guess thats a PAL type.

Using an Apple II as a serial terminal with a Windows machine

A few people out there have set up their Apple II machines as serial terminals to UNIX/Linux boxes:

I would like to do this with a Windows box, but am unsure about the Windows side of the configuration. Has anyone out there tried this? Can you recommend any good serial console programs for Windows?

Apple II golden power supply switches off after 2 minutes

My Apple II+ (golden) power supply can switch on my Apple II (non-plus) just fine.
However after 2-3 minutes it powers off. The only cards I have attached are a 16K memory expansion and a Disk ][ drive controller.

A replacement power supply does not suffer from this problem.

Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Looking for Bootlegger Magazine Floppies , to start collection.

hi... looking for any and all copies of The Bootlegger Magazine , this was an awsome set of Floppies back in the day , it was a monthly publication that was sent out to members only , dealt alot with de-protection and what not of Apple II software , would like to get as many of the floppies as possible , so I can transfer them to .DSK before they are gone forever , I already did a huge collection Hardcore Computist Magazine , I have the collection if anyone is interested in that.

Need an Apple II Expert who knows CAD!!

Well, I just got a loan from the bank, and I am looking for people who know a lot about the Apple II's, CAD programs, and creating PCBs. I'd like to make 'aftermarket' parts from the Apple II's increasing there power, I've been in love with the Apple IIgs I've had for years, and finally got approved for the funding, if anyone here can help... Or at least point me to the right direct at least.

To anyone that can help I can offer to pay outright or royalties. I know a fair amount, but less then I thought, lol.

Thanks in advance guys!

Music software for the Apple II

Can anyone suggest a good program for playing around with the cutting edge music capabilities of an un-enhanced Apple II (not IIe). I've heard of the Music Construction Set, any good? What are the others? Looking to show-off the computer and make it sing.

Joystick stick won't function, fire buttons OK

I am using a vintage TG Products Joystick on an Apple ][. 1978 Rev 1 motherboard with 16 PIN DIP gameport I/O.
Both fire buttons work but the joystick stick movement does not produce any movement on the screen (not even a jerk)
Tested with Pacman, Centipede and Defender.

When I opened the joystick unit the internals seem minty clean. Just two pushbuttons and two potentiometers with mechanical trim adjustments.
Output is a 16 pin DIP plug with all legs OK. I have a pin-out for the gameport I/O.
