RFI keyboard repair (ITT Snap-Action Array)

I've unfortunately purchased a "slightly" incomplete RFI ketboard (beige backed PCB). It was without encoder, as there are a few new replacement options for those. However it was expected that the keyswitches/snap-action arrays would all be intact. I should have known something was up when I noticed a missing screw (as the plastic thread in the keboard frame directly below was broken apart) when removing the pcb for cleaning.

Most items OK but Apple IIe won't boot

Hi all,

as an old Apple//e enthusiast, I'm happy to join this forum I've been looking at for months. Now that I just bought a machine a few weeks ago (at last! a PAL version)...it fails. Symptoms are :

- Power LED on, no beep (some random cracks sometimes), random characters on full screen (when RAM installed) or complete solid white screen (if RAM pulled out).

After reading as many posts as possible in this forum, here's what I did already following "Sams Computerfacts troubleshooting guide" :

- PSU seems ok (recapped RIFA) : +5.2V, -5V, +11.85V, -11.5V

Unknown ROMS Help ID'ing

Hi,

I have a smal box of ][e chips. mixed in the foam are 2 eproms.

I dumped them and attached them here.

The Velan bin is a 27128 eprom. About half way into the file it has a string "booting DOS"

Velan Co 1988 Ver 3 Revision1.6  shows at the top of the file.

Retronaut: New video on origins of Apple II

In this video I explore the origins of the Apple II, its first iteration and why it makes such a great choice for a retro computer collection.

In 1977 a trio of computers were launched in the USA and they kicked-off the micro computing revolution. Of the three, the Apple II proved to have more longevity than anyone would have expected.

It became a home computing favourite and in time it would grow into a family of micros that helped pioneer professional video game development.

Apple /// - Only System Utilities 1.3 is not working..

Hi Friends

I have an Apple III that I restored back to health and it's about 99% working for me.    For some reason, when using System Ulities 1.3 I can not get the keyboard to be read correctly - it will acknowledge up an down arrows in the main menu but will not recognize any of the valid key strokes (D,F,Q).

Altera MAX 7000S series strange LCELL behaviour

Though this is not strictly Apple II related, since the Altera Max 7000 series CPLD is popular here, I feel I have a duty to warn.

I can't find the exact quote from UncleBernie, but I remember reading him telling about "in his days" people having their expectations about CPLD/FPGA being 'reajusted' by reality. The last couple of days have been such days for me.
