Smiley,

Are you serious?

I don't want to rain on your parade, but Fritter Critters post news up here all the time.
There is always something being talked about up here, or haven't you notced?
Do you really think another forum is going to change that? Smile

I just thought a few of us could chat in about different apple ][ topics in one thread.
Besides, it's not another "forum" Just another thread. The building blocks of what allows Fritter Critters to communicate :3
If you want me to take the thread down, I will gladly do that though Smile

EDIT:

This isn't just a "Help, My ][c died!" thread, but a place to just well, chat about Apple ][ stuff :mac:

Part of my reason for making this was that some of my friends wanted me to make an apple ][ thread.

quick question: Why can't I see how many posts someone has made?

to see how many posts some one has made in this group you need to click on their name and it takes you to their profile. Then click on track and it will bring up a list of all the posts they have made on Applefritter.

Thanks! Wow, Soon we'll have enough members to start a discussion!

I posted this on my blog and had to share it with you guys

'The Importance of Specification'

Haha. Yeah...
Don't you just HATE it when people greet you with a non specific question such as "Waddaya know?" Yup... I know you do... I guess we all do. So why not help end it.
'Okay. Imma go set those people straight... '
WHAT?
Okay DON'T DO THAT!
Have a <3 and don't be rude. Just don't carry on that tradition. Once the current generation of whaddya-know-ers has died, your children of whom you have taught this wisdom can be the fresh batch, not influenced by such an annoying quick-think-fast-so-I-can-catch-you-off-guard-catch-phrase *Brain gears sputter and die*

That was a meaningful post of wisdom, wasn't it Smile

I'd say either Apple ][ or Apple //.

On eBay, I saw someone list an apple "2E". It was a Commodore Clone! How funny XD

I thought they had an apple // clone in the hatch....
Anyway, it was John Locke who threw the // on the floor. Honestly, that made me sadder than the final episode Blum 3

I have always used II, or ][. A ][ sometimes when talking about a II or II Plus, II when about a IIe, IIc, or IIgs.
As for the clones being sold on eBay under the II name... I write to the sellers and tell them that they are incorrect.
The ones that really irritate me are the folks that call II's "PCs", or "Macs". Not that I don't use either PCs or Macs, but you just don't call an Apple II a PC. lol Smile

Re: How, Most Authentically, to Express "2"; & The Apple II ...

My reason for thinking that it wasn't a II+ in the hatch was because it was constructed in '77.

I can't stand it when they're called macs *shudders*...

you know...Wouldn't the high magnetic field have, well, caused issues with the //+ ? Maybe not, but my friend was playing with my *HIGHLY* magnetic bucky balls around my iPod touch... It crashed! Wouldn't power on for about 3 hours! It works now though :macos:

Oh, and as for the underwater swing, I think that was to give us a hint of when Juliet detonated the bomb :3

Re: Please Advise: Is Sector16.com a Legitimate Company?

Hi Apple II Forever Thread Members -

I posted this question on the general AppleFritter.com site, but I thought I should also ask it here, because I was thinking the Thread Group might be even more likely to know about this question -

I found on Sector16.com for the Apple IIgs a Computer Card that says it includes a built-in Hard Drive (all of which, without needing any additional interface Computer Card such as an SCSI Controller Card) would readily work when inserted in one of the CPU Slots of an Apple IIgs ROM 3 computer.

This product sounds almost too good to be true. And there's no Customer Support Telephone Number listed anywhere on the Sector16.com Web site. This Web site seems to be associated with another Web site called Syndicomm.com.

Have any of you ever heard about, or ordered anything from, this Company? If you've ordered anything, did you receive what you ordered (within a reasonable length of time), and have a good experience in using it with your Apple II computer?

I'd really appreciate any feedback and advice that you could offer about this.

Thanks very much.

Haven't ordered anything from them but as far a I know Tony Diaz runs 16Sector.com. I've never met him but from what I've read on various sites, such as comp.sys.apple2, he's a really reliable guy and well respected in the community. If it's the Focus Drive you're talking about I've heard that is a really good card. It will go into any avaiable slot in the GS (or a //e for that matter).

They're associated withSyndicomm now because Tony just took that site over from Sheppy, another well known and respected person in the Apple 2 community.

Cool thread. I was not a Apple 2 user, but know of many who were, and was on many Apple 2 BBSs in the 80's. A fine machine.

I would jump on the Apple bandwagon once Atari was gone, and the Mac was established. I generally can afford tech that is between 5-7 years old, so got my Mac 128K in 1989-ish.

So missed the Apple 2 here only because Atari was still going at the time and I was fairly happy with it.

Re: Apple II Ғσяɛʌɛя! (An apple II enthusiasts club) :3 &

There sre several Platinum IIe's up there for auction. There are also some regular and enhansed IIe's for auction. The Platinum's are ok, but you could probably start off with a regular or enhansed.

It is not only some of the IIe's that are getting expensive. Did you check ot the TransWarp IIgs that is up there? Actually there are two. One is being sold by Littljohn and the other is being sold by MCPricebreakers (they are out on San Diego).
I must admit that the one Littlejohn has for auction is the better of the two at 16 MHz.

I used to do a weekly eBay report up here. Maybe I'll start doing that again. Smile

@chris,

Welcome to Apple Fritter! the best apple site this side of the world wide web!

@gsmtcen,

is there something wrong with the platinums? I just wanted to go with one of those because of the numeric keypad and the 80 column text card.

Re: Apple II Ғσяɛʌɛя! (An apple II enthusiasts club) :3 &

That was the point I was attempting to make.
I may have flubbed it in my own way. lol

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Platinum IIe. I have at least 3 of them at last count and the IIe I have setting on my bench right now is a platinum. I have it set up along with my Mac G5 for file transfers.

The point that I was really trying to get across was that; if the only reason that you want to get a Platinum is the fact that it already has an 80 column card and it has a numeric keypad built in, you are missing out on the experience of having a IIe for basically no reason. Here is why (in my humble opinion):

The Platinum having a numeric keypad is a nice thing, but just how often will you use it? Most apple II software (barring Appleworks Spreadsheet) has no need for a numeric keypad. It is almost like having an extra appendage. 80 Column cards are fairly easy to come by either used or new in the box at a reasonable price (even on eBay).

I have no doubts that someone here on Applefritter may even have a spare that they may be willing to part with.

The prices on a regular IIe, or an enhanced IIe, are fairly reasonable right now. You may have noticed up on eBay that some of the II Plus computers have started going through the roof lately. I have no idea why. I think some of the sellers have gone off the deep end and are in need of intensive therapy.

To get back... If you want to get started and really do not need a numeric keypad, get ahold of a regular IIe. Smile

Oh...gotcha Smile

I just like the 'look' of the platinum better, but I know that's no reason to pick a certain computer. And with the 80 column card, doesn't the enhanced have the same specs as the platinum? if so (or similar) I'll start looking for those :mac:

A IIgs is like the IIe in many ways, but not in looks. Everything is built in and expanded upon. But the look and feel are not the same.

When I retired from the Navy in 1995, I decided to live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a while. I went to work for Gateway 2000 in the Repair Parts section. Well, I really didn't have a PC at the time and I wound up buying a Refurbished Gateway 486 DX2 66 from the factory I worked at. It was my very first "Store Bought" computer. lol

Now I use a DEll Dimension 4700 for daily stuff when I'm not playing with my G5 Mac Tower and the rest of my toys. Smile

Unless you have some need for bleeding edge performance, then yes. I'm running a three-year-old E7200, and in my casual gaming/application use haven't experienced any kind of CPU slowdown yet.

Hi Guys,

I am an original Apple II owner since it came out, however I now reluctantly have to clear out my entire collection and thought you may be interested...

I've My Apple II, includes RAM upgrade, Language card 80 Col card, dual drives, plenty of software and manuals.

As this is my own kit I have the original purchase receipt (eye watering cost) with marketing material etc.

The Apple II and drives are in the original Apple Boxes with the hand written delivery address from Apple.

If you are interested please drop me a line.

Sami.

@eeun,

I was wondering simply because I use a late 2010 13" MacBook Pro, and was curious to see how that processor has withstood the test of time. I do plan to use this machine for the next 4-5 years as my main computer.

@sami,

I know you said you have had an original apple //, but what kind of // are you planning on selling?

I was able to get one for free at an auction when the schools were dumping all there IIs at auction. I seen it at the auction outside and it was starting to rain, I asked one of the auctioneers about it. He looked outside at it and said you want it it yours. Ebay has had a few strange things like the Apple IIe hooked up to an electron microscope. I do not think it sold. I seen it sold in parts there. Now selling an electric car with a IIc in it. I see the monitor, and what looks like an IBM or full sized keyboard.

Just for the collector and versatility value! I've

Memory extension, TWO controller cards! (One for a

Also running to an original Apple Dot Matrix Printer!

Getting hard to find cartridges for this!

It might be a little high on the price side. But was it used to control all the knitting and sowing machines he is selling? He does not say much about anything about the listing on EBay. He does not say anything about software or if the Apple IIe has any cards in it and what they are. Or what the machine was used for. With out the software even if you had all hardware to connect it together it would not do the knitting. Only one picture of it.

But did it connect to the Stoll Selan Remote Network server that is going for a few dollars that connected to all of the other sowing and knitting machines he is selling. It would seem he would also need a HD also to do it. Not a lot of old information is easily found. Then again I know nothing about Stoll and Knitting.

Maybe the II and the other items are not related.

Hi! Sorry I haven't been on this thread in a while.

I haven't been able to add the usernames of new people to the first post because it won't let me edit it for some reason—— any ideas why?

Due to some recent incidents elsewhere on the board, the ability to edit posts has been removed.

Oh.. Fool

For my thread that's not such a good thing... I'll find some way to get my members listed though.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know Smile
