Apple II

Anyone parting out Apple DISK II floppy drives?

I was working on a short stack of Apple DISK II floppy Drives I marked as bad yesterday when I came across one that needs a new read/write head module (rides on the rails and has a wire connector lead to it. This one got eaten by mice but the chassis and boards are good I want to get it working again, its an early model with rainbow ribbon cable. So if anyone has a read head from a Disk II they are willing to sell please send me a message. Thanks!Mick

Need help identifying expansion cards in Apple IIgs

Hi,

I am looking at purchasing this Apple IIgs ROM01 system. Since I am new to the Apple IIgs world can anyone help me identify the cards installed in the system. This is this only picture I have of the motherboad. I have asked the seller but I don't think they are familier enough to ID the cards.

I know there is a memeory expansion card in front slot 8, but the others I have not idea. The card that concerns me is the card having the cabel soldered to  the Number Keypad header. Any idea what this card is?

Many thanks for any response.

Why Not the DIsk /// ?

This is a speculation thread, and surely something for those who want to discuss hypothetical stuff:

In 1982, Apple released the //e, knowing that the /// was dying. At this time, they had a large inventory of Disk /// units that were unsold.

Why did they never make a Disk /// controller card for the //e?

Mark's Clear Apple IIe Case (MacEffects)

So I finally got my clear Apple IIe case from MacEffects that I ordered a year ago and I have to say it was well worth the wait!!!

The Apple IIe is my absolute favaorite computer and my Parents paid for 1/2 of one while I was still in college and I paid for the other half.

So I was in a dellima when it was coming.  Do I put toegether a stock Apple IIe  or do I  max it out a bit?

I decided on the latter.    So here it is....

Neat Power Supply Voltage Monitor Card for Apple II's

Hi All:

I saw this advertised online via eBay and sold/shipped from China. I ordered one two weeks ago and it arrived.

I find it is a great diagnostic tool/aide while I have the lid off my Apple II+ and am still finishing up on my power supply issues. It's neat to be able to watch hands-free and hands busy elsewhere, what all the voltage busses are doing when disk drives are doing there thing and diagnosing a weak power supply or what something I'm doing is effecting any of the voltage busses, if it is.

Apple IIe composite video output

Others have posted in the last couple of year about using a 19” Insignia TV from Best Buy as an inexpensive monitor for Apple II composite video output but for some reason I’ve been unable to find their posts.  I want to thank them for calling this option to my attention and to add that although the posts mention an LCD TV, the current model is an LED one.  I’m pleased to report that it does an excellent job of displaying 80-column text using my Apple IIe’s composite video output.

AppleColor 100 RGB Monitor Alternatives

So I have an AppleColor 100 RGB/80 Col card for my A2E but I (sadness) no longer have the monitor that went with it.  I've seen them up for sale for big $$$ in the past (in fact, there's one on eBay available right now for 700$, which is a little bit more than what I'm willing to spend at the moment, although I am severely tempted).

Soundchaser Sound Cards

Does anyone have any information on the analog sound board option for the Soundchaser? Speedyg has extensively documented the 2 mountain computer music system cards for the digital option, but there seems to be very little online about the analog option. So far I've been able to find 3 pictures, 1 is B&W and from 1982, and the other 2 are lifted from an old ebay listing that the rest of the photos are gone from. Neither is close enough to make out ICs, and the boards in the pic from 1982 is a different design and presumably revision from the 2 in the eBay listing.
