IIgs - scsi card - zip drive setup.

I have an Apple IIgs, 6.0.1, cffa3000 acting as a starup HD in slot 1, a GGLabs A2SCSI card (clone of Apple II SCSI Card) in slot 7 and a SCSI Zip drive. At the moment, no 800k drive.

My plan was to intialize Zip disks with a 32 meg ProDOS partition (booting HD)  and a HFS partition on each. At the monemt the GS does not recognize the ZIP. If the disk is in on startup .. nothing. If I insert after the desktop appears, nothing.

Anyone have any idea how I might get the Zip recognozed by the GS and formated?

Thanks

IIe drive in a IIc

Hey everyone!

Wow, it's been quite a while since I was here!  Hope everyone is OK, survived COVID as well as one could hope, and still enjoying the hobby!

So I have a IIc that I have taken out of the battered IIc case and would like it to run a longer disk drive cable.  I believe that a Disk II cable will work, and it certainly seems to work just fine.  However, the Disk II ALSO works (not just the IIc drive), which I found fascinating, though that is likely old news to you pros.  :)

EMCO Joystick

I picked up this EMCO brand joystick a little while back in a lot of stuff, and can't find much information about it.  It's a dual Apple/IBM joystick, with a switch on the bottom.  Then there are 4 pegs that look like some kind of adjusters sticking out of the bottom.  They aren't for centering/trimming though, as those adjustments are on top of the stick.  The pots measure just shy of 1Meg across, which seems odd to me.  And the switch for Apple/IBM mode seems to switch in or out 2 resistors.  I didn't have time to trace everything out to see exactly what is going on.  The stick seems to w

Incomplete joystick range for Y axis

I just picked up a new vintage (1983-ish) apple IIe branded joystick.  The joystick seems to work well, but I'm only getting partial range for the Y axis.

The X axis is good-- I can adjust the center to a value of 127, and pushing the joystick full LEFT goes to 0, and full RIGHT goes to 255.

Alternate ROM image for TJBoldt ProDOS Rom Drive (ProDOS 2.4.2 + utils)

I've put together an image which I am still working on, primarily for my II Plus, which contains some useful tools. Right now the starting point is the ProDOS 2.4.2 disk from John Brooks' website:https://prodos8.com/releases/prodos-242/

Combined into the Blank drive with firmware file provided in TJ's repo (https://github.com/tjboldt/ProDOS-ROM-Drive) I pieced it together using the instructions for Bitsy Bye (again, from John Brooks' website).

ProDOS STARTUP menu - trying to work out how this code works

I'm busy teaching myself all about the Apple II and starting off with  a ProDOS ROM image written by Terence Boldt

Looking at the STARTUP code in CiderPress, it uses Applesoft to print a menu and then loads a game depending on which key you press.

I've worked out most of the simple basic commands but what is stumping me is how is the game actually loaded.

I would think there should be something like LOAD game?

The code reads the key pressed and sets a variable GAME = 0 to 26 (Depending on which key is pressed) Then the below routing is run.
