Single Densisty / DD / HD and "13 sector vs 16 Sector"

Is there a difference in number of sectors when using different model DISK II I/O Controllers?

What is the best way to get CPM software on to the Apple with CPM card

OK now that the ALS CPM card is up and running with CPM 3

I now have to get software that I can run on it.

I know in the old days people just sent the files over serial. These days I think we have more options.

So first, this is on an Apple II, not plus or IIe so I can't run ProDos above 1.1/1.2.

I have a super serial card, CFFA3000 and a couple of Disk II drives.

Repurposed Pentium III for ADT & CFFA

Through a bizzarre series of events I came to fix'n'up an old Pentium III machine to act as an ADT & CFFA "server".

This is neat and practical because I can view live video from my Apple //e on the same monitor as ADT and Windows Explorer windows. Great for pushing files around and making disks. Also good for download from asimov straight into the real Apple where you can make a PC directory appear as a virtual disk.

Apple IIgs keyboard corruption: Repair ideas?

Problem:

I was given a completely peripheral-less ROM 01 Apple IIgs "Woz Edition" the other day. Hoping to have some fun with it I spent a few bucks on an ADB keyboard, mouse, and serial cable (all the parts I could get from Weirdstuff), and was in the process of trying to hunt down a floppy drive when it occurred to me it would probably be a good idea to test the machine. And it has a problem.

AE Ramworks with Pascal?

AE's advertising for the Ramworks III card specifically says:

RamWorks III can be used as a solid state disk with DOS 3.3, PASCAL, CP/M and ProDos (up to 5,700 blocks free)!

Presumably this would require a device driver of some sort under Pascal. However, I can't find one anywhere-- it certainly doesn't seem to be on the AE software disks.

Did this ever exist?

Anybody need some free HD diskettes?

Like 90+ NOS Nashuas in a fetching dark rose shade?

I stupidly bought these before I remembered the difference between "HD" and "DD".

Hey, it's been 30 years and I'm just now getting back into things, OK?

Yours for cost of shipping should you have any use for them.

Best way to expand storage

So I've got my Platinum //e running well with a DuoDrive. But having only 280K of storage online at any one time is kinda limiting. Especially with things like UCSD Pascal, which involve some disk swapping.

I have another Disk II controller card, so adding a couple more 5.35" drives would be pretty easy. That's one option.

I'd much prefer a 3.5" drive, but the controller cards for those are rarer than hen's teeth. There's one on eBay now for $200, which seems high.

Or I could just hold my breath and wait for the next run of CFFA3000 cards.

Disabling write-protect on Uni-Disk 5.25 for 2 series?

Like it says on the cover. Is there a simple way to disable the write-protect feature on 5.25 drives, model A9M0107? These are the ones in the white plastic case with the permanently attached DB-style cable.. The ones with the pass-through option.

No cutting or soldering of wires are allowed. Nor is breaking loose the optical sensor. Anything I do will need to be 100% reversible.

Well off to find the schematics and perhaps work from there.

Rescued an Apple IIgs

little background on the scenerio:

Back in November 2012 i was scanning my local classifieds and saw an ad for a apple iigs selling for $150 cdn. It was only the computer, keyboard, a 3.5 unidisk, and a manual. For $150 that was way too much and it wasnt even a woz edition by the looks of the pictures.
